No one wants a pregnant person

I keep being approached by companies who have access to my resume on Seek and via Recruiters. They spend so much time selling me on why I would be perfect for a role they have in mind and the interviews are always great – I know I interview well and can handle myself so well. The roles I accept interviews for, I know I'll be exceptional for. The minute I say I'm pregnant, I'm suddenly not what they want or actually they weren't “fully briefed” on the position they offered me and realised I don't have the entire skill set they wanted for the role. I actually had a second interview with a company's HR person (self-described Human Specialist…) and when I discussed my pregnancy, she actually said that I was going through soooooo much change (I had just moved house a whole 20 minutes away) and now I was going to have a baby and a new job?! She was soooooo happy that I was entering motherhood but my my my, she was really worried I couldn't handle so much change in such a small amount of time.

She said this didn't have anything to do with discrimination or anything like that, no. She was concerned for my wellbeing. Like I'm not almost thirty and know how to handle myself. Minutes before, I was perfect for the role and she had been soooooo excited to speak with me and saw how much potential I had for this role.

I should have waited for the offer, I guess, before saying anything.

I hate this.
