Been seeing alot of posts about people switching jobs, taking pay increases and rejecting counter offers. I have a short and sweet story with a twist.
Been with this company about 10 years, went from grunt to Manager and boosted accounts and profits from there. After butting heads with the owners a bit, I said I want a pay increase, and I'll let bygones be bygones.
They sat me down, and basically told me that I'm not worth the raise. I say well hey that's fine I guess if you feel that way, then that's that.
So for the last 7 or 8 months I've been the employee they want to pay for. When they figured it out, and asked what's going on, I reminded them i wasn't worth the raise. They just said “they don't want stress and drama” and I replied “me either, I'm just here to put in my hours and get my paycheck”
Not a life-changing story, but since I have the extra time now at work, I thought I'd share it
