So I applied for this one job online for office work back in November last year. Just now, about 20 minutes ago, I received an email saying “thank you for applying, but we chose a different candidate”
Like. Thanks? I guess? For letting me know 8 months later?
I'm just glad I didn't sit on that application hoping. It was mixed in with the other 400 applications I submitted that week, buried in the hours and hours I've spent creating accounts on their .com/careers page, filling in the same information twice, uploading my resume PDFs, completing their self-surveys that assess personality, and whatever other asinine things over-paid upper manglement can use as a barrier of entry.
You (the hiring companies) hold us to a high standard just to get in the door. I'm glad some people are taking back that power in scheduling appointments and asking the hard hitting questions like “Why is this position vacant?” and “What is your turnover like?” and leaving the interview when the answers aren't satisfactory.
