Did you know that it's standard practice in India for recruiters and employers to demand to know your current salary when looking for a job? This is so they can get away with offering you only a little more than that. Even if they have the budget, they cite reasons like it's their 'policy' not to pay you above a certain percentage of it. I fucked it up by not knowing this when getting my first full-time job here. (They were definitely not interested in knowing my post college income in the US prior as that obviously doesn't apply!)
It's only gone up marginally more for me- about Rs.15,000 ($350) – per month since, in 5 years. Makes my blood boil.
