NYS sucks

I was recently accepted to SUNY _____ as a Graduate student in the PhD program – fully funded, which means that required to work as a GA (20 hours a week. I work as a NYS employee, reduced hours to PT so I can live while going to school. Per HR, I have been flagged in the payroll system, since SUNY and NYS have the same comptroller as attempting to be “dual employee” and that because of my full time student status, I can’t work more than 5-8 hours per week anymore. This basically forcing me resign and find a job not connected to the NYS payroll system. It’s kinda fucked up that someone looking to improve both the school and state that they can’t provide livable wages (20k per year funded for 20 hours per week). And we are still in need of a second job under the states…
