Offered an unpaid job opportunity

Just as the title says.. someone in a group chat I’m in said they knew someone looking for new employees and we’d get to learn about different areas of business like marketing, community outreach, etc while working as a team member. I asked if it was a paid or unpaid opportunity and the exact response I got was “she said if you’re in it for money then you wouldn’t be a good fit.” I just asked if I’d be compensated for my time, not for six figures. I’m also so tired of employers trying to offer $24,000 a year for full time employee with a grocery list of responsibilities. Like, for that I’ll go work somewhere with less responsibility. I’m so frustrated. I hate the whole concept that we should be fine being paid little money if we have a passion for a specific field. I got bills to pay.
