I worked at a small coffee roastery for a few years – I started out roasting and doing production tasks and moved my way up to operations manager in a short time, over seeing all wholesale and retail orders, purchasing, and logistics. We were given no federal holidays off, worked hot long days in the summer, and no insurance/perks besides free coffee were given. The owner who comes from a very wealthy east coast family played it off as being good friends with everybody, guaranteeing “unlimited PTO”, etc. but everyone was scared to ask for any because he always turned it back on them and said it would create a ton more work for him. I gave him a months notice when I was quitting, citing mental health issues caused largely by the job, he told me I needed to “stick it out” and that I was taking the easy way out. After two weeks, I said that was enough time for a notice and never came back. I cited all these things in a Glassdoor review after quitting, he found it and texted me requesting I take it down after “all he had done for me”, once again using fear tactics to get what he wanted. I deleted it. The guy is a total ego maniac POS, giving my cell # out to people who call and harass me in recent weeks. Not sure what I can do, but it still irks me.
