Company changed 401k to a new company. Assured everyone that everyone will have accounts there from now on unless they opted to change to a company of their choice. The app that kept track of paystubs, newsletters, surveys, etc kept going down so everyone was having issues for months and in many cases, a couple years, despite repeated compaints by several employees. Was told that you can't close this 401k account down unless you quit. Unrelated issues forced me to quit.
Long story short, my account was never transferred. Heard thru the grapevine that they (the 401k company) gamble our money on the stockmarket. Ppl I know lost 1k so far. Go to look at mine which conveniently works now. All my 401k is gone. No record it even existed. No way to prove it since they went digital and stopped printing paper stubs.
I'm about to snap.
