I am working between two companies, let's call them X and Y. X and Y are collaborating on a project and I'm the main person working on this project. I have 2 bosses from company X and 2 bosses from company Y. It is all good except for one of the bosses from company Y, let's call her Sarah.
Sarah is a micromanager, she schedules me for big important presentations without checking if I have time to prepare for them. She also schedules me for meetings without consulting my availability. For example, once I was on a holiday and after I came back, it turns out she scheduled me for 9 meetings on my first week back with 2 of them on the first day. She didn't wait until I'm back to see my availability. I have a deadline for company X? She doesn't care. I have a dentist appointment? She obviously doesn't care since she doesn't bother asking!
I don't think she realizes that my responsibilities extend way beyond her micromanaging world. I am not sure how to deal with her!
I'm afraid of going on vacation because I know she'll use my time off to schedule me into many meetings with no regard to my availability when I'm back.
I also find it difficult to decline some of these meetings when I'm back because the meetings she schedules include MANY important people. If I decline then I look like a slacker!
Anyone got a tip for dealing with this type of behaviour?
