I am worried that my employer is trying to force me out because I have applied and been approved for ADAAA accommodations in the past and they are aware I may be seeking more in the future. Here’s the situation;
We are moving buildings next year and manager sent out a survey for what we wanted most from our offices: natural lighting, proximity to restrooms or entrance doors, or proximity to other employees. I put that I would like to be near an entrance because I have a bad back. Boss says now they have to put me as far away from an entrance because I cited a medical reason and that is not an approved medical disability accommodation of mine. (I had surgery 4 years ago so nothing counts towards that anymore)
I have now learned to never disclose medical info to my bosses but am seriously heartbroken at the lack of humanity. I understand I don’t have disability accommodations for this and may not have the closest room, but to say now that I have to have the farthest? Just seems cruel. Any advice?
Also- my boss and coworkers all usually are chummy so now it will seem weird that I am going to stop. But I don’t feel like I can say anything without someone trying to use it against me.
