I work in a fortune 500 company. From last two years our team are working in hell like conditions. 13-14 working hours, call from manager anytime even midnight, abusive language, making us to work on weekends without any pay, loads and loads of work pressure. I have been in same team from last 6 years, but this started about 3 years ago, when a lady was appointed our manager unexpectedly and with out of term promotion. Within the company it is rule to pass an exam to be appointed to manager but she didn't have passed it. She was incompetent was identified early and our manager's manager who is a man of age 50 used to be strict with her due to decreasing productivity, increasing inter-team conflicts, bad feedback by team. But slowly super manager began to be mellow with her and in fact start scolding us if we used to go with her complaint. We initially thought this is because super manager is stressed about productivity but some girl identified their behavior as suspicious. So we tried to observe and dig more. we identified that they used to leave office within 5-10 minutes span and used to go through different doors. Then one of them hid in parking one day and saw super-manager smoking in his car and then within 10 minutes lady manager coming looking here and there and sitting in super-manager's car and leaving. Then one day a girl went inside super-manager's cabin and saw both of them holding hands (that girl has now been demoted). Now situation is such super-manager has arranged two manager from other team for her support and they do all the work. We are working hard and could not complain. Out of Team of 30 there has been more than 20 resignation in last two years. Slowly the news about condition of team has spread but nobody could do anything as super-manager supports her.
I was stuck due to some circumstances at my home but now I am free and is actively searching job. In 10 years of working never seen such circumstances.
We came to know that this lady was having affair with her super manager in other domain too when she was given promotion.
