Overslept Overreaction?

More of a vent, but also looking for advice. This morning I woke up to a call from my boss, I was confused because I thought it was around 8 in the morning but when I answered the phone I realized it was 9:15am and I had slept through our 9am Friday town hall call. I’m just extremely nervous, last year I had some personal issues occur which led me to miss three calls and I was put on “probation”. I want to effectively communicate that this was a rogue incident and very much an accident. I also feel that a full on formal conversation is a little bit much for missing a Friday townhall.

I have a habit when I speak to managers to cower but I want to come in strong on this one.

What should I do?
