I work at a dispensary, I buy a lot of product personally because I get a good discount so all my friends buy through me. It got to point I was buying vape cartridges by the case each week.
I talked to my accounting and operations guys and they told me they’d sell them to me at wholesale since it improves their buying power, giving them better overall pricing, and bumps the numbers up overall. When the old operations guy left, accounting continued to allow it, and the new guy wasn’t concerned in the slightest and started doing it himself.
Well after 3 years, the absentee owner just found out about this. She’s trying to go back from the start and make me repay the difference between the wholesale price and our discounted employee price.
$12 per unit, 20 units per case, for nearly 3 years, to the tune of more than $30,000. At a job I’m paid only $13 an hour, 30 hours a week for. (Plus tips, but even those have been terrible since our old operations guy left)
I called up my old boss that left who said she can pound sand. Worst she can do is fire me since it’s a Right-To-Fire state, but there’s no legal recourse as multiple higher ups (including him) signed off in it.
Fuck this industry.
