To explain some context, In my country we have this shitty workhours in almost every restaurants:
12:30pm – 5pm ( workers come in at 12:30 then closes at 5pm afternoon)
7:30pm – 12am ( reopens at 7:30pm and we close at 12am)
The kitchen staff leaves at 4:45 pm, waiting staff stays till 5pm (rarely happens as customers takes time and will not leave until told to).
The owners' pet(call him boss) is the kitchen manager, he is the “right hand” of the owner. His wife also works at the bar. Both clean the restaurant at night as they are paid to do so.
Now the problem began when a couple walked in at 4:15 pm, we warned them that the kitchen closes at 4:30 and we close at 5pm in which they said “sure no problem”.
They ordered fast and all their food were served at 4:25 pm.
4:50 pm comes in and they still haven't touched 3/4 of their plates.
Kitchen staff already went home, boss stayed becauae his wife was still working at the bar.
Boss' wife started complaining that she was tired so the boss told her to go inside the kitchen and eat as he will substitute her.
Other waiting staff were also telling each other how the customers eat so slow, one of them was gonna warn the customers but I told her to stop as the boss is at the bar and he would see so Id ask him 1st.
So I told the boss that I'd start telling the customers that we're closing the bar so they could order coffee or dessert now.
Mind you I didnt even say were closing the restaurant, instead only the bar and we're supposed to be closing at fucking 5pm.
He then shouted saying “Why would you do that?!” I said ” because it's already 5″ he then started arguing with me and saying shit like “If you dont wanna work then get the fuck home” etc.. etc..
I got fucking annoyed, I find it unfair that we the waiting staff respect the kitchen staff's time but this is what we get?
We all come in at the same time, 12:30pm but they get 3 hours of rest before we reopen while we the waiting staff only who are supposed to go out at 5, go out at nearly 6 everytime and only get a maximum of 45 minutes of rest counting the time for transportation from home to restaurant.
So I just didnt say anything, when he went inside to see his wife I fucking straight up told the customers that we're closing. This was at 5:15pm.. Finally the customers left at 5:25pm.
A week had passed after this and we dont speak to each other, I am also getting attacked in a very immature way which affects my coworkers.
We the waiting staff put our uniforms at the bar when we have work the next morning for easier access.
This saturday morning, uniforms were thrown out as if they were trash, as I entered the wife greeted me with “The owner came in this morning and threw out some uniforms, we only saw them this morning”, luckily the night before I put mine at my locker.
One of the uniforms was of the owner's, he put it in when he comes in and substitute one of us. We know it was the boss and the wife who did this as they are the last ones who go home due to cleaning.
I find it unreasonable for the owner to throw his own uniform, hell he was even out of country during that time.
Now there is always something wrong about everything that had never even been an issue before. It's exhausting and just straight up annoying.
I never in anyway disrespected them, and this is what we get treated for wanting to come home and rest on time?
This dude is the owner's pet so Idk if I should talk to the owner, Ive only been here for 8 months and these 2 had been here for more than 10 years.
The owner is really nice, but he just fires people he doesnt like as I was told.
I cannot quit either as Im in a very complicated situation.. The hell should I do?
