Im currently a student from germany, studying logistics and living with my parents. University is 10 minute drive with my bike away. Last year i accepted being a temporary worker/contract worker for a company who provides other company labour on short notice. Its a minijob we call it, 450€ tax free, but actually its a 10.80€ pay job, that doesn't pay any benefits except working at night(and even then not the full shift but solely counting at midnight), national holidays or sundays. My experience so far: Ive started working solely there because they are flexible. I only work when I WANT to/have time. Meaning i used to work on a sunday every week once a 7.5 hour shift in a factory that produces various paper based products. Due to the sunday bonus, i received 10,80€ + 1.5% meaning an average pay of 486, due to the bonus being tax free…

So I recently had a meeting with my line manager where they were basically having a dig at me about “engaging with the team and company, both on teams and sharing posts on LinkedIn.” Now, I said I would be willing to take part more on teams since it's provided by the company, however my LinkedIn is my own personal social media and I get to decide what I like, share and otherwise propagate on this. Upon telling her this, she started to get antsy and basically insist that I need to start engaging with the company on LinkedIn. Am I just being difficult? To me work stays within work, I don't have to engage with it outside of working hours and I don't have to start bringing it into my personal social media.

I have been in this job for about 5 months. When I interviewed I was clear that I needed full time and was assured it would be no problem. I am getting positive feedback and customers seem to like me and still I am getting scheduled only 3 or 4 days. I have repeatedly stated that I need to work more and it is ignored. I am starting to apply other places because it is very expensive to live in my area and I am having to dip into my savings just to get by. They hired another person a couple of months ago and he has full time hours even though he keeps saying that he doesn't need money and he has a full time job, plus he gets complaints all the time. I am sticking around until I find something else but this coworker called out and so…

The company I work for is a large exercise equipment manufacturer that just shut down operations for 3rd shift for most departments and two of our buildings completely. Everyone has moved to either first or second at the main plant but there is not nearly enough for this many employees. The owner mentions in every meeting/newsletter that they are proud to have never laid anyone off but this feels like they are trying to get people to quit instead of paying unemployment. Mainly a vent but if anyone has experienced this before or has advice I’d appreciate it.

Took an interview with a board member of an IT startup who wanted more focus on his pet project. Interview went well and I got the job. Less money but it was a startup and the board member sold his last startup for hundreds of millions so I thought, I'll ride the wave. It wasnt a great product, nor did it have a lot of opportunity but it was his baby and he wanted focus. The core business had potential and i thought maybe this might be an opportunity too good to pass up. About 5 months in i had to present to the board the opportunity potential, and I did. Got a few looks and a comment around limited opportunity and in my head I'm thinking “yeah, I know right!?”. The worst part was, the board member who employed me said nothing and just nodded along with their comments.…

This happened last week and today Monday we just found out he was fired for being 20 minutes late FOR HIS FIRST TIME EVER… tomorrow me and ALL my coworkers will be late and will continue to come in late until they rehire him.

Not sure if this is a wide spread thing but where we are Stack overflow is down and my BF (who mind you makes three times what I do) is panicking because “Where is he going to copy the code from now” and “I can't work in these conditions”… This seems to be the current mood at his teams chat with his colleagues. Life is unfair.
