I'm losing my twenties to a pandemic, a recession, and a whole bunch of other things, and I spend my week in a job I hate for a boss I hate. I then spend the weekends sleeping to just recover from the week, and then dread the week coming up. They say your twenties are the best years of your life 🙁

So I’ve been a member of this subreddit for awhile but this is my first post. I use to think I like my job and that while we should be working way less, that ultimately work is still good. I’m not entirely sure what I believe now but came to this realization: I truly hate to work. For some context, I was in university for some of the pandemic, I got my degree and shockingly got a job in my field. It was a starter job but I thought I genuinely enjoyed. The pay wasn’t great but my coworkers were decent and it was fairly close to me. And I thought I genuinely enjoyed the work. I went out west to visit my sister who moved there 5 years ago. I had a great time just hanging out with my sister and her friends. This was really my first vacation…

I’m currently arguing with my friends about this. They think a 16 year old and an 18 year old should be paid differently even if they’re doing the exact same work. I think it’s silly to be paid differently for no reason other than “you don’t deserve it because you’re not as old”. I don’t get food discounted just because I’m younger than someone else so why should I be paid less for the same work even if I’m in the same situation? Is this a common belief?

I hate working. I hate being away from my boyfriend and child and dog and friends and family all the time. I hate that my house gets messy and disorganized because I only have 3 hours a night after work to do EVERYTHING before the next day. My management team of 3 ladies at work seem to have already taken two weeks off, each, in the 3 months I've worked there. I make $10/hr. I was talking to a coworker who had been there for 7 years and she's only at $11/hr… Wtf. I want to leave but everywhere is the same. What are the solutions to antiwork? How do we make this an actual thing? How does that work? What would that look like?

Started working fulltime for a company in May 2021 delivering medical equipment to hospitals, in July 21 I, along with the other employees were given an informal heads up from our supervisor that the hospitals won't be renewing the contracts to continue supplying the equipment in January 2022 So we need to start looking for new employment before we are let go and offical notice will be given in November 21. Found out the company still has the contract. Context: the company is one of the biggest medical equipment suppliers in my country and supplies to about 10 other countries around the world. I worked in a small team of 6, 4 delivery drivers and 2 laundry staff. We delivered to about 8 hospitals in our local area health district. I was offered 1 months pay to leave and the more senior staff were offered 2-3 months pay or they…

I left work early today because the pressure was so intense, i had a panic attack and could not stop crying at my register. I went to work despite being in terrible pain. my supervisor threatened us if we weren’t asking for Five Stars. She told me i never asked for five stars despite i asked everyone around me while she was there fixing the two broken self check outs she ignored until she was told corporate landed in the state. I was lectured by Loss Prevention for not noticing theft, even tho i stopped four shoplifters, one of them i stopped twice in the day and LP was no where to be found. One of our cashiers was fired today and two others were to sign disciplinary action notices. If this is how my managers treat us when corporate is here, i don’t wanna stay here.

Instead we have massive financial problems in first world countries because Big Tech’s in charge now.

Worked 7 years in an office. Year after year a basic 3% raise. Occasional bonus (hundred to two fifty) to keep it interesting? I quit and went back to food service and make just as much with a 10 minute commute instead of 45 minutes each way. 8 hours in a kitchen FLIES compared to office time. How do they get away with the idea that sitting in front of spreadsheets all day is a selling point? My only loss was vacation days and I can take a many unpaid days as I want…
