Should teachers be given money to put towards a mortgage down payment?

Obviously this depends on seniority. If you've been a teacher for 25+ years you deserve help getting a nice house.

Today is my confirmation to leave this job

Every few days off that I get and when it comes back to doing work, I'm ready to deal with it for a while. I was actually recharged to handle the day forward. But, I should learn this lesson by now, if I'm feeling too great about a workday, there's bound to be bullshit afoot. And there was. I begin to do my work when my supervisor whom I actually like comes up to me, I saw her feet since I was vacuuming the stairs so it was kinda amusing. She was rounding everyone into the breakroom for the announcement. I get in there and she goes on a passive aggressive break down on what she thinks should be improving. It all came as whiny, to me. Complaining how we didn't have our radios on (we work night shifts, almost next to nothing fucking happens that'd require them most of…

Help me, what should I do?

I was interviewed today for an apprenticeship. It went well. I showed interest in getting the job and they showed interest in having me on their team. The guy gave me his card and told me to think about if I want to work here and give him a call back sometime. I told him I’m pretty sure I want to work here. After that, the interview was over, I filled out and signed 2 different papers giving them permission to do the background checks. Now I’m having second thoughts about working there. It’s an hour away. I’m not sure if I want to make that commute for several years. Any advice on what I should do now?

Was denied sick leave and told that I’m too emotional

I feel like I’m trying to be accomodating enough to my employers. Last time I had covid with high fever (beginning of this year), I only took half a day leave to recover and immediately got back to work the next day. That was all the sick leave I took 7 months working at my job. Just yesterday, I suddenly got a flu from my boyfriend. My nose was severely blocked, and I felt really weak. I thought about not coming to work, but I went anyways. However, when I got to work, I couldn’t concentrate as I felt seriously weak. So, I tried to ask my team lead for a half day leave again. For some reason, she asked me to have a meeting with her and she said ‘if you still manage to work, i recommend completing the day’s task’. She continued to say ‘i don’t want you…

Ask ‘Antiwork’ Reddit

Asking a serious question to a potentially hypothetical upcoming life situation of mine…that I may or may not be mustering up the courage to SPEAK UP at. Thank you, friends ️ If you were granted one question to ask the Senior Vice President of your company, and they’d be required to answer “on-the-spot”, what would it be? The caveat to the above question is you must ask your question in front of the entire company , but in return the SVP must answer in front of the same audience. No pre-rehearsed, censored BS.

Elon Musk is worth 220 billion. To put that into perspective, if you made 20,000 per hour, worked 12 hours per day, 365 days per year and saved every penny, you could match his wealth in 2,511 years….

Why are managers so frequently incompetent and insufferable?

I know there are various reasons why they rise up the ranks (they’re more likely to be cutthroat or overestimate their competence or scare off the competition, or maybe their manager is equally obnoxious or is trying to look out for their own job security) but most of the managers I’ve had – in addition to being intolerable – weren’t even charismatic or inspiring. There were essentially no positive qualities to them that I was aware of. I was recently working at adidas and the manager of 2 stores was so pestilent that every single employee quit within the same month and the stores had to close for a while I realise being a manger isn’t easy and isn’t for everyone but in many of the jobs I’ve had it seems as if they’ve found the worst person they possibly could for the role as some elaborate practical joke on…

I quit my job because I could no longer afford to work there

I live in california with insane cost of living and recently I told my boss I’m quitting because I can no longer afford to live in the state, plus if I quit I would save on gas. They tried to get me to stay, I told them if they doubled my pay I would but they said that wasn’t possible. I can’t believe it’s reached a point where it’s cheaper to be unemployed
