What happened to this sub?
This sub used to be an actual sub about abolishing work, usually from an anarchist perspective, but now it’s where liberals go to advocate for a 15$ minimum wage and “reform”. What happened?
Should I file for unemployment?
I was fired after putting in a two week notice (they said “relieved from duties”) due to the insanely humid and hot working conditions that made me severely dizzy after being in the factory I clean for about 15 minutes. I felt the situation to be too dangerous for my growing child (I am 18 weeks pregnant and they where aware when I was hired on, when I was 6 weeks pregnant) and had to put it in. Temperatures on the factory floor at 3am was around 90 degrees, not counting how humid it was. There are no fans, we couldn't open doors to air it out, nor do they have cups on site. Would y'all file? I'm not sure if I can/should.
Need advice please. My significant other has been with the same company for 16 years. The name of the company rhymes with WalFart. The work load has increased, his team has decreased from 8 people to 4. The new starting pay for his position is exactly 1.50 less than what he currently makes. He hasn't filled out a job application much less interviewed for a job in 16 years but he wants out. He's started applying for jobs, but how do you take 16 years of “unskilled labor” and turn it into something meaningful that a company would be interested in? We live in an extremely rural impoverished area and he will have to commute 50 miles in any direction to find a job. If he gets the interview then what?
Sudden Work Meeting
I work a remote position. My manager just emailed me a meeting request to come in next week. He simply said I need you to come into the office that day. And he just said that there is a reason and we will discuss at the meeting. I have no idea what is going on but I am highly suspicious that I am getting fired. Other team members have had meetings and they definitely were remote. I have not done anything that I am aware of. Any advice on how to prepare? ETA: I have company equipment which is why I believe I am getting called in. Also if they do fire me, will they give me copy of paperwork they make me sign?

Panic Attacks At Work
I recently started a new job doing warehouse work for a multibillion dollar international company. The shifts are 12 hours on a rotating schedule. Very shortly into starting the job I started having intense panic attacks while at work, the ones where you're convinced at the moment you're having a heart attack. This has grown to be something that happens every shift, during most of the 12 hours I'm working. I am finding it extremely hard to motivate myself to go into work, knowing I'll be there for 1`2 hours is very hard to deal with. The environment is humid and loud, we have to wear ear plugs so it is close to impossible to have a conversation, you're basically in your own head for 12 hours straight it feels like it is killing me. The panic attacks have also started to leak into my days off. Any advice would…
Got fired for this email I sent to HR
I’m writing you because you’re the most well-known and easiest to find H.R. person, and I wasn’t sure who to contact. I’ve worked here for a month and here are some of the reason I am already considering leaving: I've worked here a month and IT still hasn't resolved the issues with my computer, after sending 4 different people including the head of IT to fix it, they seem to just have given up even trying anymore. The network port and wiring for my cubicle are just hanging out of the wall. It’s absurd that if I don’t do the job I was hired for, I get fired, but when IT doesn’t do the job they were hired to do everybody just accepts it? My MS Office software often will not save or update because my computer thinks it is not connected to the network, and I have missed meetings…
Company I work for offered “Challenge.”
I wanted to post this earlier, but honestly wasn’t sure if I was in the wrong headspace before. After reading a few dozen posts here I think it fits. My supervisor pulled my area to the break room for a quick meeting on a Friday afternoon. We were told the company was giving us a “challenge” that if we accepted, we could have a 3 day weekend for Mother’s Day weekend. The challenge was whatever they felt like we should be able to accomplish in our usual week. So for my department, let’s say prepare and paint 5 truck bodies( I work for a company that manufactures utilities trucks of various designs). And what was the “reward”? A day off without pay or penalty, or to use up a vacation day. This felt like a slap in the face. Work harder to lose money or valuable pto time I had…
