Fuck you, Medmen.
Alright y’all. Buckle the fuck up. I’ve been in higher education for the past few years, and I recently accepted an offer from Medmen for an HR Specialist role because I wanted to switch industries. I cleared the background check, drug test and filled out my new hire paperwork. They even sent me a swag box. Only to call me this morning, not even a full business day before I was supposed to start next Monday to tell me that “due to restructuring, we no longer have the funds for your role”. They offered me a in-store position for $15 an hour instead. These employers are not your friends, they WILL screw you over at any opportunity. Luckily I was able to get my old job back, but I’m really hoping to spread the word about this. We have to name and share these companies.
A very close friend runs a small healing business. She recently went to a healing expo and one of her leasers offered to help her. ( a leaser is someone who rents her healing office space once a week to treat their own clients) . In her own words, she made a “record” amount of money during the expo, and this leaser was a huge help in terms of selling her products and/or treatments. She probably really needed him because she really didnt have much other help to sell/collect money while she was giving treatments. I asked if she gave him a portion of the proceeds for being such a big help and she said no, he got ” exposure and learning experience”… so i said wow he agreed to that ? And she said he offered to help she didnt ask, he wasnt busy that weekend… i told her…
Rant on Dress Code
Can I ask why dress codes everywhere are so restricting? Have employers ever thought that having a “comfortable” employee would be a more efficient one? And I'm not talking about having a poor appearance or poor selection of clothes like sweatpants, but for instance WHY am I not allowed to wear a jacket when it's 20⁰F outside? What purpose does that serve? WHY can't I wear a damn pair of shorts when it's 90⁰F outside? I know woman could probably speak a bit more to this since I can see the craziness they put out in most companies' policies, but why as a whole do we just accept this as it is? I NEVER see another employee complaining about it hoping I'm not the only one
I was applying for a position at a hospital that I was under qualified for. I am a social worker by trade and wanted to act as a member of support staff to other social workers at the hospital. I have a master's degree and several years of experience, but my last couple of jobs have been so stressful that I thought I might prefer something significantly less demanding, even if it paid less than what I was used to. The hospital has their hiring managed primarily by an outside HR firm, so I completed the necessary assessments and turned the work in. I quickly received an email that they were denying my application and would be looking at other candidates instead. All this would have been fine, but I was contacted by a recruiter at the HR firm and offered an interview, not for a support position, but for…
So, in my country, when you enter a company they open a “salary account” in a bank of their choice. Company ended up opening the account in a bank that doesn't provide a card or internet banking app, so I can't use or transfer the money to my actual account, I can only withdrawal the money in person on the agency where the salary account was opened or request salary portability. The problem is: the agency is on the other side of the city (going by public transportation, about 40 minutes from the work site and about 1 and a half hour from my house, I do not own a car, the banks work 10am to 4pm and I work 9 to 6), even though there is an agency literally one block from my work site. For some weird reason, my portability was not accepted (tried 2 times with my…
DO NOT ever give them that information, I actually don’t use all social media (mostly just Reddit and forums, my brother’s opioid addiction stopped me from getting into social media since it started with him being angry about everyone’s Facebook profile’s were better than his) and would never hand it over. Nor give my alias name. This is why: Employer’s have OPENLY admitted to checking social media on the people they’re interviewing. One guy didn’t even interview someone because she had one photo of her on her 21st birthday drunk and her head in the toilet with the caption: “Girls night out”. He said that one photo ruins her reputation and shows her real sense of professionalism. They also track what you do on your time off and sick days. I have heard this constantly and they are probably encouraging people to share their profiles for this. Never share your…
