I work for a small agency within a state agency. It has been the custom to pay the employees of the smaller group in a way that doesn't make sense. (Discussed in another post) So a huge raise is coming to some of the other agency employees that would make those with just a diploma making more than those of us with Masters degrees. Everyone is pissed. All of the support staff is getting a 2 or 3% raise while the untrained new officers get anywhere from 12-20+%. So many of us complained. Some of us complained to our department, others called the governors office. Our little agency in an agency was warned today to stop complaining outside the chain of command, or we would mess up the efforts being made to get us all the higher pay and make everyone fulltime. Apparently our geographic division was the loudest. The…
Truly astonishing
Our best co-worker got fired yesterday
I had a co-worker who was in his 60s. We work in a warehouse setting on forklifts. This guy would work very hard, he moved quickly and made some of the least mistakes out of all of us. When things where slow he would take on odd jobs like repainting lines and repairing dumpsters, helping others out. When things where very slow he would clock out early, so he would do about 30 hrs a week. This is something he told our manager and they agreed it was ok. For the rest of us, when things are very slow we just watch the clock to punch out. HR was going through punch cards and thought that my co-worker was not working as much as everyone else so they just fired him, that same day. They didn't tell the manager until after who didn't tell our department until the next day.…
Employer leaked private email addresses
So yesterday my employer didn't pay their employees on time because of a technical issue. Today they sent out an email saying that they are working hard to resolve the situation and any fees that occur as a result of missed payments will be reviewed and reimbursed by the company upon submission. The kicker is, they didn't BCC the employees this email was sent to. So I and all the rest of us now have access to each others personal email addresses including management. We are not an office based company, we are primarily factory and warehouse workers so a lot of us don't have corporate email addresses but HR need us to provide a private one since we went paperless on wage slips last year. This is obviously a worrying situation, anyone in that list can now sign me up to anything or worse and I was wondering if…
