I had emergency surgery

I have been using my PTO because I had plenty to cover me but my HR is trying to pressure me into going on a LOA. Why would I make 60% of my pay on leave when I can have my full pay? Why are they pressuring me over this. They have emailed and called me numerous times, while I’m trying to recover, and I have told them no every single time.

New Job/Rest is Resistance!

I currently work a “high”-paying, 6 figure job where I am CONSTANTLY berated, publicly humiliated in front of my team, and shamed for asking questions/seeking guidance (even though the company gave me NO training)! Don’t get me wrong – I recognize the extreme privilege that comes with my salary and I truly do feel lucky to have had the opportunity, but it’s cost my my mental health and physical health. We’re technically supposed to have unlimited paid time off, but if I even try to take half a day off 2 months in advance, its denied for no reason. I asked to take 3 hours off on a Tuesday in JUNE to take my dog to the vet and was denied by my boss, who is taking 5 consecutive weeks off to travel this summer. The company is in the billions with profits also, so there’s that. The decent paycheck…

By the way, you should stop letting your children watch propaganda on the TV

Any television show that teaches kids that they have to compete to survive instead of cooperate with each other. Any television show that promotes CEO's who sabotage competition, bully competitors, and work to impress. Any show that glorifies the selling of labor as a passion. That if you work hard at the company, you'll eventually be promoted. All of that is propaganda to get people interested in the system. Unregulated competition is what leads to corporations. People work to live, not live to work. If you want to work it should be a choice.

Is it bad to not apply externally?

Hello! I use a variety of job search services, like Indeed, LinkedIn, and Handshake. I put a lot of work into my resume and portfolio, both of which are on my profiles and are clearly stated and available in all of my applications. A lot of the jobs I’m applying for have you turn in a resume and portfolio link, etc on the job search service’s application for the position and then ask you to apply AGAIN but this time externally on some random website that is either the company’s site or a random third party that always asks you to create an account (which then leads to annoying marketing and spam emails from dozens of sites). This external applications always ask for information that I’ve already provided, there’s nothing special or different about them. So, is it bad if I just do the direct application from the job search…

I’m so fucking lost right now..I just want to give up

I got 2 job opportunities. We'll call them Job A and Job B. Job A pays twice the minimum salary and it has fix hours, that is, 11am to 7pm. Commute is like 1h30 in the morning because of public transport and 30 mins in the afternoon because employees get transportation after 6pm. And it pays the same salary for training. So because of the hours I don't get to spend time with my kid during the weekdays (Me and the mom are separated). Now on the other side job B pays minimum salary + benefits(commissions which put it like 3/4 of job A's Salary) but has so much flexibility and is 30 mins walk from home. And at night I get home in 15 mins by company's transportation. Hours are 5pm to 1am and 9pm to 6am. Not only would I be able to spend time with my child…

My manager is giving me shady info?

I got written up for not going to a mandatory meeting that I was not aware of till the day came by, I wrote in the write up that there was no method of confirmation and that it wasn’t scheduled in so I didn’t have a way of knowing. I left, and now today they’re writing me up again for missing a mandatory meeting that they emailed out the day of my write up, which i then said they didn’t have a method of confirmation so how do they know i got it? Management (just one manager no other witness manager) responded with “we spoke to legal team and us sending the email is enough” and that they’re essentially protected and if it happens again i will be terminated(the1st not showing up mandatory meeting was my 3rd related write up) I’m in California, should i get DOL involved? Think you’re getting paid xx an hour? Think again (most likely)

I've always had a work commute until this dawned on me. You think you're making whatever an hour but you're not, you're paying a certain amount just to do that job and that varies from situation to situation but for example I remember I got what I thought was a pretty decent job, decent enough that I didn't think twice about the 36 mile one way commute I'd be making. I worked that job for 3 years and wondered why my finances seemed about the same or even worse than they were when I was making a few dollars less an hour and not even half the distance away. Basically you take everything that you absolutely need to pay to practically be employed and factor that into your wage. You can calculate it for hourly or salary or really any type of pay, hourly will probably just be the easiest.…
