Multi-billion dollar company can’t even pay over $20/hr or offer benefits

I am working on getting an intern to help support me and to mentor at my current job. The issue is the company refused my request to pay more than $20/hr for skilled labor (the cost to rent a studio in this city is over $1k a month) and they won't offer any sort of package to help them move here. I doubt I will find someone to fill the position with such crappy pay and benefits. I am just so frustrated since this company loves to tout record earnings and growth, but won't even budge on a few dollars more toward pay. There isn't a labor shortage. There is a shortage of jobs that pay livable wages and provide basic benefits.

So, what happens if we all just stop paying for our healthcare costs?

Healthcare costs have gotten out of control in this country because of scumbag insurance middlemen. I guess my question is what would the outcome be for everyone if we collectively decided to just…. Not pay our bills? If a Facebook group can make raiding Area 51 a national phenomenon, I don’t see why we can’t use social media to influence a payment strike on the industry. Most people can’t pay thousands of dollars for their bills anyways and I feel like not spending money on healthcare, which is something almost everyone in this county agrees is predatory, would be easy to convince people to do regardless of political affiliation. The big thing that will scare people is a ding on their credit, but if a good portion of Americans are willing to take a bad mark on their credit report it could shake things up.

Quitting by calling and/or texting

I’ve been working at the company for almost four years, never had a problem until our new manager took position. Ever since then it’s been constant drama, bullshit and then using me as a scapegoat whenever something goes wrong. Anyways, my manager told numerous people including me that they were going to fire someone. I told the someone about the possibility as they have told me they live paycheck to paycheck. It spiraled, oh well, knew it was going to happen but of course instead of doing anything to the manager, they’re getting me in trouble for spreading lies when numerous other workers have said they heard the manager say that as well. I’m tired of it. I’m tired of working 50 hours a week while my own manager only works 30 max, tired of doing the hard labor that the manager doesn’t want to do and makes me do,…

Companies settling out of court.

Am i the only one who thinks that when a company settles out of court and doesn't have to admit guilt is a crock? Companies constantly use, abuse, sicken, endanger and even kill people and get away with it by throwing $$$$$ around. The settlement is always confidential too and thay way they can keep on doing it. This is something that has always annoyed me.

Competitive Wages – Is this only a Canadian thing?

I saw a job listing a while ago for a customer service agent for a major airline. There were a laundry list of duties and responsibilities and the listing boasted a 'competitive wage' of $15.80/hour. According to Indeed.com – Competitive pay is a term that refers to an employer offering a salary that is equal to or exceeds the industry standard for similar jobs in the same geographical area. Basically this means that if the industry standard is $15.50/hour (for example) a wage of $15.80 would be considered “competitive”. In the real world the word 'competitive' means to far exceed, or to go above and beyond. But in employer speak it means something else. It's quite likely that the phrase “competitive wages” has really taken off because “living wages” would be anathema to these sociopathic scum. But competitive wages are also a race to the bottom. While corporate profits outpace…

Currently sitting in ER for pain and I’m more concerned with having to call into work

It just dawned on me out messed up that it. I’m way more concerned about having to call in and potentially lose my job rather than what is wrong with my body. Something potentially life threatening and I’m scared of losing my perfect attendance at work.

What would cause an organized worker strike throughout the western world?

As we're seeing worker's rights becoming sidelined by corporate interests and bottom dollars( in the US at least), what would be a unifying call to figurative arms for the middle and lower class to unilaterally decide that enough is enough? Would it be soaring gas prices or blatant corporate bribery in the form of lobbying and wage theft? What would the mob decide is the last straw before refusing to work? Just curious is all.
