I’ve recently started a new job. It’s pretty unique because they have a fingerprint scanning system for clocking in and out. While my manager was demonstrating the process, he casually mentioned that they have a backup number (for clocking in and out) in case someone loses their index finger overnight. Can you believe that? I couldn’t help but ask if he actually expected me to show up for work after such a terrible incident! It was quite a bizarre conversation.

Moving Abroad to build wealth
The US is one big scam. I’m moving to Asia. I’ll be living on $1,000 a month and saving / investing 2/3rds – 3/4ths if my take home pay. The best part? I’m not even going to tell my boss. For all they know, I live in Las Vegas.
How to report manager properly
Sorey if this isnt the proper place to ask this, i work at a froyo place and have been intimidated by, aggressively and loudly shouted at, blamed for issues that were their fault, and got a phone thrown at the desk I was sitting at in my direction in anger all by my manger. The phone incident is on surveillance footage. I've heard HR are the last people to report this to but it seems like the person above her, the store director, has a good relationship with my manager and I have low hopes he will fire his long term work colleague. Wondering what to do because I dont want to quit, where I can report her where something will actually get done ;-;
To be clear, I’m definitely anti-bleed-and-die-for-these-assholes but I honestly don’t mind working. It’s something to do and they give me money so whatever. So I was actually kind of excited when I got a new job a few weeks ago because I like a change of scenery every so often. Thirty minutes into my training I realized that my new boss and coworker were only telling me how difficult it is to get the resources they need to do their jobs. How headquarters randomly revoked their access to platforms, gate keeps assets, takes an average of 3-4 weeks to make a simple website change, which we have to submit a ticket for instead of having access to our CMS, stuff like that. On the first day, my boss took me aside, and whispered “do not trust anybody here, not even [only coworker on my team].” I mentally included my boss…
Been out of work for months
i quit my first “real” or “adult” job after about 15 months. i had an anxiety attack at work which made me get on SSRIs (for ptsd, mdd, an ed, some ocd symptoms) the work stress just pushed me over the edge and i didn’t have support from administrative teams for all the things they threw on me. during my 3 month break at the time i ghosted my talk therapist lol. i had hit my lowest and was self isolating. but i still had goals i thought. i wanted to start my career in a field i really thought i was going to spend the rest of my life in. and i left that place before i hit my 3 months to be benefits eligible. the second month i was there i had a family event that triggered and spiked my anxiety. the week after a senior colleague came…
Worked my @#$ off for months FOR NOTHING
THREE MONTHS I LOST MY SOCIAL LIFE AND HOBBIES TO FOCUS 100% ON WORK. I wanted and needed the raise. I needed to prove myself to be converted to full time (I'm a contractor). And all that work was for nothing. I sat there looking like a fucking clown seeing my coworkers get paid time off, vacations, and sick days while I slaved away when they were at the beach. And I don't even get those benefits because I'm a contractor. I slipped into more suicidal depression for being so much inside working my days away for nothing. I'm still a contractor without job security, and they never offered me to be full time. Meanwhile others constantly get the privilege of getting PTO, and there's MANY who are always on PTO. I wasted my days. I wasted my time. I wanted to travel to the coast and take a mini…
FMLA for a dentist appointment
I told my boss I had two upcoming appointments. I simply asked if they would like me to take a longer lunch break for my appointments or if they would like for me to put in for sick time. I am already getting an hour of OT a day. I get a 30 min lunch . Our fiscal year just started so all my benefits are positive. So, the question in the title- also they asked me what the appointments were for– thoughts?
