Been in the food industry for the last 5 years, executive chef for the last 3 of those 5 years and I cannot take another day doing this. How fucked am I if I quit without a backup plan? Like with this market there’s no way it’ll take me an entire month to find a new job right?
Our HR department is buying lunch because we have some of our regionals coming to the office next week. They asked for a headcount for who would be in the office for lunch. After getting the menu for next week, we were told there would be 3 different hoagie/sub options, all containing meat and cheese and a garden salad. Also in the email was a sec fence along the lines of: “If you don’t like it then bring your own lunch.” I emailed the head of HR and informed her that we have vegan and diet-restricted people in the office and that it would be nice to be included with something other than lettuce. I also explained that meals lacking protein aren’t sustaining. I was met with a response basically saying that the meal wasn’t for us and we’re just lucky to be included. 🥴 I’m not vegetarian, but I…
Also, I wouldn't want my full name on a sign for all to see lol.
I’ve just seen a post from AITA where a guy was asking if he was in the wrong for working in a park when he was working from home while hungover. All the scabs in the comments are calling him an asshole. I genuinely do not see a problem. He is working. He is literally doing the work that the company is paying him to do. What what should it matter if he does it in a space other than his home? Some commenters on the post are saying that he shouldn’t be discussing company work in an open space, and I genuinely cannot imagine the amount of brainwashing it would take for me to come to that conclusion. He works for IT, so he has to do every single bit of work in private just in case there’s a corporate spy who might skim some of the overlords profits,…
Why should we care?
This may not be a popular opinion on here but I want to ask why. Why should the work force care about wfh? I’m not against work from home but at the height of the pandemic I saw figures that showed 25% of the work force is wfh and the other 75% had to go to work and still goes to work. My spouse works from home and I have a job that can’t do that. So why should the other 75% care about the wants of the other 25% ( and 25 is being generous, I’m sure it might be lower.) Most of the posts I see are just this is bullshit I should be getting paid for getting ready, commuting , and I just waste time when I’m in the office. So how does fighting for work from home help the majority of workers that isn’t self serving…
Tips taken at work
Hey everyone. I was told to post here after posting in a different sub! I work as a barista for minimum wage in the Midwest USA. The issue I am having is sometimes our drawer will be off by a little bit (either plus or minus) if it’s more than $1 we are expected to put our own tips into the drawer to make up the difference. If it’s over we are supposed to put it in the cash drop. This is so hella annoying to me and making me want to quit working there. What would you do if you were me? I should say I don’t mind this job and have been here for 3 years, but every time this comes up I get pissed off. Thanks
Boss Right Next To Me All Day
OK, so I work in Japan and the offices here have a certain set-up. There are no cubicles and the office floor is completely open plan in my company. So there is basically no privacy. Everyone can see everyone else all day. My boss sits about a metre and a half to my right and I am perpendicular to him, all day. So, I can always see him, for the full eight hours, right there in my peripheral vision. I think it's having a subtle psychological effect of causing slight anxiety or a feeling of indignance in me. He's just sort of always there: the shape of his head, all day long, and he can always see me more directly than I can see him. My Japanese coworkers don't act as if they are bothered by this arrangement, even the ones who are sitting very close to their division…
14 y/o ghosted by chick fil a
3 weeks ago, I went to a 1 on 1 interview, and then on Thursday went to a group interview. Everything went well, and I felt like the hiring manager and I were extra talkative (I hear that is good in job interviews). Though I was very nervous, me being 14 and this being my first interview, but I smiled and made eye contact and everything else. Long story short, a week after I called to check in, and they said “go to HR”, and took my name and number. I went to HR, and they said call your store-thanks a lot. 2 weeks after that, after not hearing anything, I called again yesterday and they said they would “pass on my name and number to HR”. My last ditch resort is going directly to the hiring manager tomorrow, in the store. Basically, I’m going to say that I wish…
