So my sister (31F) has been looking for a job because she wants to phase out of caregiving and yesterday she interviewed at a printing place and was hired and started today. She was pretty excited that she found something close to home and the owners were super nice and she really liked the vibe of the place and was ready to work. She called me on her break to tell me that everything was going really well but she might not stay, and when I asked why she told me that the lady doing the designs came up to her and in an incredibly rude manner told her not to put sticky notes on the forms she was filling out because she couldn't stand them. I work for a pretty big company. Over the last year, I have been put in some extremely stressful work situations that severely compromised my mental and physical health (they dangled a raise over my head and then told me I can't have one because no one else gets one after making me work overtime for three months straight and then having to apply to keep my own job). I am in a state of pretty severe burnout and am trying to take disability leave/get accommodations, and that process alone is crazy stressful because HR at my company is the worst. I have been going down every avenue possible of trying to get help (and understanding my rights), and today I called the HR-sponsored Employee Wellness service. Got our company pay released for the new tax year today. Good news – 49p per hour base pay rise. Bad news – Overtime cut from 1.5x to 1.25x. I do an overtime shift almost every week but these will now be worth £20 less per shift… Reason given by company that only 3% of shifts this year were overtime, so they've taken out of the overtime budget to increase the base rate. Not sure they've thought through that the overtime is necessary to complete all work. The incentive for doing this OT has now been halved. Let's see what happens going forward with missed orders if staff refuse to take overtime at reduced rate. Think my time here is limited now.

With prices and inflation going to shit for the while you should start to save money. I work minimum wage at a part time job and if i were to keep this up the only logical thing is to continue living with my parents. I have no body for this message ill keep it short Living on your own is way to expensive thats why you should stay with your family liie the “old times” and keep that home like the “old times” Idk take it with a grain of salt also dont buy so much stuff of course.

So yeah, was working a terrible job with no work life balance but the one perk was that it was 100% wfh. Stress and burnout of the job led me to expressing my discontent through Facebook. couple months ago I was looking for a job and so applied to two different safeway locations, one close to me and one slightly further away. luckily for me I ended up getting an interview at both places, and was accepted each time. so of course i had to choose one of the placed to work at, and i went and chose the one closest to me (obviously), and all i had left to do was to call the safeway that i wasn’t going to work at back and tell them i had been accepted somewhere else. i tend to have a little bit if a fear of confrontation and phone calls, but i managed to push through it and called the lady that interviewed me at the safeway and explained the situation but apparently my worst fears decided to come true, the lady seemed incredibly upset and said something…
