I think this is relevant to a lot of people on this sub. For those outside Australia, The Barefoot Investor has been called the biggest financial cult in Australia (and that is actually a good thing). I don't know if he has much presence outside Oz, but he does offer good advice in a very readable form, and also is a pretty good guy! Anyway, here's a snippet below I thought might be useful: … you do need to ask for a raise. Why? Well, if you don’t get at least a 5% pay rise this year, you’ll be going backwards. That’s because the prices of things are inflating at the fastest rate in years … and they haven’t stopped climbing. Think of inflation like being stuck on a treadmill that keeps getting faster and faster. You have no choice but to keep running, otherwise you’ll faceplant and be ricocheted…
I love cats but this is ridiculous
So I recently left a job and have been sending out resumes since. One application had a pre employment screening and it required me to include the pay rate at every previous job. These were required fields, so I just wrote a one instead of my actual pay rate for every job listed. I didn’t really feel that was their business to require, so I just obviously bs it. Was that a “normal” thing to do? And how will that look to employers? Never done that before
Picked this gem up from r/writers.
Working 3 weeks w/ no pay.
I’ve been working at Walgreens for 3 weeks, this week is the start of the 4th. I barely got officially hired a couple days ago, even tho they’ve had me working over 80 hours. I wasn’t even trained they just threw me on the register on my first day. Anyway, they still have yet to set up my direct deposit or anything. My manager keeps telling me she forgot. I also haven’t been welcomed at all, i feel extremely uncomfortable there. On my first week I overheard my managers (who are cousins btw) talking shit about me, complaining. I really don’t know what to do, I don’t want to continue working there but I want to get paid. Any advice would be nice.
