Absolutely inhumane interview process
So the HR manager of this big company reaches out to me and shes like youre great for this job we would love to hire you. They then make me go through 4 rounds of interviews and then at the end give me 2 days to finish a “prework” This pre-work brief just says this: build a platform strategy. Your strategy should include: – Chosen social platforms, with ranking of focus/priority. Outline the approach, thinking and research that led you to your chosen platforms – Role of each platform (including objectives) – Target audience by platform – Recommended objectives by platform – Recommended content formats, with rationale – Content frequency So I put together a 7 page single spaced document with a super detailed platform strategy including everything they ask for. They ask me for a call and in the call they tell me “we arent moving forward with you…
Sick leave in the Netherlands….
After all the difficulties with regard to sick reports that you often read here, that's how it can be. Forgive the spelling, my colleague is from southern Europe.
Look my family was poor. We had just a tiny house until I was like 6 or 7. Then my parents inherited some land from my grandparents that died and we upgraded to a slightly bigger House. Money was still tight – I got lucky to get a scholarship though Football but still had to work a part time job throughout summer to get through College. I also had to help in the family business since age 17. With their inheritance my parents build a few houses and appartments and started renting them. I still couldnt afford my own house until I was 25 – money was allways tight. Then came the dot com crash and the recession of 2008 that almost ruined us. But because we were smart and hard working we prevailed. We just raised prices from 600/month to 1000/month and still barely made it. I never inherited…
Former Goodwill Employee Here:
Greetings. Before I start my tangent, I would like to say that anything bad you’ve heard about Goodwill in the past isn’t just true, it’s reality. For seven months, I was employed at a Goodwill store. Throughout my time there I was exposed to the harsh reality of what goes on within the company behind the scenes. Firstly, without a doubt employees are treated like dirt, especially individuals whom have disabilities as I’ll explain. Employees are forced by management to price merchandise for extravagant prices. As I’m sure the majority of you are aware already, the rumors of Goodwill price gauging is 100% true. You see, Goodwill is separated into two main areas, cashier and warehouse processor. No matter where you work in the building, all of your activity is logged and stored on their computer system. Managers abuse the information gathered from the system. If warehouse processors aren’t pricing…
My employer wants all employees to download a free app called Homebase to view our schedule. The permissions look shady AF, allow tracking and “monitoring of paid and unpaid breaks” among other things. I’ve worked the same schedule for a decade, so I was quite shocked when a coworker informed me that one of my shifts had been given away to the newest hire. We do not actually have a need for this app… this is a bar, and I don’t get any breaks, paid or otherwise, because I don’t smoke. When I asked why my shift had been taken, they told me that downloading the app is a “condition of employment”. Is this actually legal? I don’t particularly want to quit or be fired, but this guy is definitely out to get me. Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to offer!
