How to join a union?
Myself and the majority of the Maintenance department at my job want to create/join a service workers union. What steps do I take to get petitions going, or authorization cards? I’ve tried searching google but I don’t think I understand how to initiate the process. Any help is greatly appreciated. I’m in Tampa FL.
Just a concern
I recently started a new job, I had to wait 3 weeks to get a full paycheck which I understand but come payday they didn’t add my direct deposit…gave me a $200 “loan” that I had to pick up and overnighted my check..I got the check the next day but when I went to go cash it they couldn’t cash it. I called the number to see what happened and they said it was a bad check…I have to go into work for my m-f week and I don’t want to work until this is resolved am I being an asshole for that? 3 weeks does not sound Long but they need to make this right before I start working again
It’s Monday and I wish I was dead.
Same thing many of us feel every Monday. For myself, I have 40 hours of the most mond numbing, soul killing shit ever conceived while having the privilege of being paid peanuts for it that's somehow expected to pay any expenses at all. My boss is completely oblivious, and is this bubbly personality type who believes $15/hr is adequate and doesn't understand why everyone doesn't have a side hustle to make up for what we don't get paid there. I don't have the energy for a fucking side hustle when I get done with my day. Not because my job is particularly difficult or laborious, but because it's so boring and pointless I spend most of the day just going through the motions and trying to act happy/excited when all I want to do is scream. You'd be surprised how much energy sheer boredom and disdain zap from the human…
I have a few jokes
Have an out of state work trip soon and didn’t have the balls to say no at the time to employer therefore accommodation and travel has been booked for me. Really don’t want to go and I’m in the final recruitment stages for new jobs so will leave the second I possibly get an offer. Any help appreciated, ik I shouldn’t of said yes first but was easier said then done
I really love my job in marketing. It’s nourishing and fulfilling connecting with people with digital media. My sales position gives me the opportunity to learn about others everyday. There’s never a time where I questioned my calling to help people find the products and services they need. This administrative job is a good challenge. I’ve gained intriguing skills that makes my career more rewarding and exciting. I’ve always wanted to work a low paying job where I worry about my finances every month. Meanwhile I get to help upper middle class to upper class people find the products and services they need. To me that’s just fine.
I enjoy at a nonprofit 80% of the time but the last straw just fell. Two of the staff were caught doing something illegal at work (one was selling marijuana to the other). Super dumb of them but ultimately doesn't negatively impact anything at work. Well the head boss decides this is a great opportunity to save the nonprofit some money by giving the two a choice: work 2 shifts for free or be fired. As in any good villain story, the seller is of course a single mom on probation so being fired would cause a lot of problems. I wish there was way to burn the boss to ground without the other two wouldn't get scorched in the process. Fuck capitalism.
