Feeling discouraged.
Won't get into too much detail, as this is a rant more than anything. Friend recommended me to this job years ago. It was nightly and the main duty was to make sure everything was ready for the next day. It is in a rough area but whenever crazies managed to come in and give me a hard time, I was free to handle the situation the best I could. I was happy to deal with Karens who got disrespectful and except for a handful none got what they wanted. It was a desk job and 80% of the time there was nothing to do, and I was given the green light by my boss to pretty much do anything I wanted on the computer as long things got done and wasn't surfing on anything that was obviously harmful. Shop items were half price for employees, there was little if…
Hey everyone, I recently resigned from my job last month. I left on good terms, and put in my two weeks notice. However when I received my final paycheck it was short by about 800-900 dollars. I called my former manager to let him know of the discrepancy. He told me they have all my hours from that pay period registered, including the 9 hours from my final day. The number of hours is around 90. Which is correct. However, he said he couldn’t find my paystub to see what went wrong since I’m “no longer in the system” from resigning. I told him that my paycheck is obviously short given my pay rate and hours worked. I told him the amount deposited in my account. My former manager said he didn’t know what to do, and that basically he can’t help me. He also tried to question if my…
Halfway through December I had found a job after being unemployed for around a month. This was the only company that had responded to my dozens of applications during that time. I first came on working PT as I was in school and they closed around 6pm. I was getting maybe 12-15 hours per week at a rate of $13 an hour. Roughly 2.5 months ago I had asked for a raise and was told that it wouldn't be and benefit from it since I was a temporary employee. I am joining the USAF over the summer and found the denial acceptable under those terms. Fast forward to now, I have since graduated and have been putting 37-42 hours in roughly per week. Keep in mind I am still at the same rate of $13 an hour. Recently I had asked for another raise, mentioning my transition into FT and…
California- I am a key holder at my job and have been recently hired. Today was my 1st shift to close without a supervisor. The problem is that I was given they keys assigned to the person opening in the morning because there are not enough keys for all of the key holders. The person the keys are assigned to was supposed to pick them up at closing today and didn't. I'm not sure if I will be but if I'm asked to bring the keys to work in the morning so that he can open. Am I entitled to pay? My understanding is that if I am entitled to 2 hours if I have to show up for work at a minimum in California regardless if I actually work the full 2 hours. Is that correct?
Most companies i've worked for over the years will have a town hall meeting to go over the prior quater/year/whatever. They talk about the millions the company has made and thank us for being a part of that. I don't see a dime of that money since we miss our metrics for bonues almost all the time (rigged system). But even if we did get every bonus it would be 200 a quarter before tax which in our current economy is basically jack shit. They wonder why we don't get excited when they go over the numbers. Maybe it's because we're all living paycheck to paycheck while your turning record profits again.
