So I’m a server at this local restaurant in my area. It’s owned by this family that has a few businesses, but their main focus is the church that they run. I haven’t been, but I do know the 4 owners always wear luxury brand clothing, as well as driving very nice cars, jewelry, etc. The restaurant is in a rough neighborhood, we get a lot of good customers, but a couple of times a week we have homeless people ask for water or ice. Technically it’s not allowed to give them water, but I always do. I’ll usually say “you know I can’t give you this. Next time I need you to pay, ok?” And then just give them their water. It isn’t my ideal situation, I would prefer just getting it without giving them a hard time, but I’m not in charge or anything and I don’t want…
So our HR person sent out an email Friday with a new position in the company… basically doing what I do. I wasn’t to interested until it said right in the post the starting salary for this job was $2,000 more than I’m currently making. I emailed HR and she said she was pretty sure I was making that and I replied I’m not. So, she comes back and tells me it was an error on their part and they’ll bump me to the starting pay of that job only ITS THE SAME job and I have 3 years experience with this company/role. I’m so pissed I can’t even think straight. My husband told me to be happy for the raise now but I should be making MORE. I’m being boned… only he doesn’t see it that way. Ugh.
I work at a gas station in a relatively small town and I picked a lotto ticket for a customer. They won $100 from it and tipped me $20! I’m thankful that the world still has generous people despite constantly getting rude remarks and not getting paid for how much I deal with or do.
Street poster I found in Sydney.
In order for y'all get my point. For example in the US rn with inflation and all that sh*t. How much money per hour do you guys need to make a living? Imagine this. -People here in my country are able to earn 625 (sometimes less than that) if they speak english and they have to work in the customer service field (where all feel like shit after 1 week). And that's the best opportunity if you know how to speak english. -If you don't speak english probably the “best” paid jobs are around 500 dollars. -If you have a degree and don't speak english these companies are willing to pay you 625 (if you're lucky enough to get the job because you know competition). -If you have a degree and speak english if you're lucky enough if they pay you 800 dollars (and probably you begged for it) Now…
