About 3 weeks ago, I left a small(ish) software development company. I was working there for about 2.5 years, and to put it nicely, it was fucked. I was constantly working until ~7ish every night, with no overtime. The stress was immense, I'm 23 and I've started to get gray hairs and I swear it was because of that job. The amount of responsibility I had, for the pay I was on, was insane. I was put on a new project 1.5 weeks before Xmas break last year, and was expected to get it done before the break. This was easily a project that would have taken 2-3 weeks. I was working until at least ~10PM every night those days. There was no documentation for ANYTHING. For anyone that is familiar with software development, you know that no documentation is horrible. It was all “cultural knowledge”, so you had to…
Good advice to this CEO
Overworked & Underloved
Here is a long one and am posting as I believe in the energy here. I have been in marketing at my company for 4 years (not in the US) and have stayed while the entire team has changed several times, above and below. My reporting bosses have changed 6x in this period, including upper management, with each completely changing the work procedures. I’ve stayed holding it down through all of this, including 1 year of intense political situations and 2 years of COVID. Not once have I been given a raise or promotion even when I’ve asked for them. I have never received a bonus as they are discretionary in my industry and dutifully accepted pay cuts during the worst of COVID. I pride myself on my work ethic and ability to achieve successes – having consistently hit or exceeded all my targets / KPIs for my role and…
Selling Merch To Support Ukraine
I've been glued to my phone screen since the 24th and I'm totally disgusted with what I've seen. Russia's agression isn't limited to military targets and I've seen so many pictures and videos of dead civilians I started to feel sick. I'm selling Ukrainian victory-themed merch through my foundation: Aid The World. Proceeds will go to either the Ukrainian government or to a Red Cross organisation. If you're already in the market for a hoodie or a phone case, then please consider purchasing one that will help Ukranians get through their current difficulties. https://www.aidtheworld.org/ P.S – Free international shipping! Thank you!
I work part time while being a full time college student. Basically I tutor high school students on high level math as well as physics, since the subjects are related to my college major. The job doesn’t have a direct deposit set up (red flag?) and basically my boss sends me the money via Zelle every two weeks when I get paid. The problem is it has been basically every time that I’m supposed to get paid and he takes days, and I mean DAYS to send me my pay for the hours I worked for the previous 2 weeks. For example, it is currently march 3rd and I still haven’t gotten paid. The exact pay date every month is supposed to be on the 1st and 16th. On February I didn’t get paid until the 19th. It always takes 2-3 days after the actual set pay date for me…
Applying to Fill Opening As Mod
My understanding is y'all just lost a mod who turned out to be credibly alleged to be another federal snitch and accused of being a serial rapist, I heard it's p easy to apply so here I am: Pros- I am actually an Anarchist; I'm actually Anti-Work; I'm not a Federal Snitch Cons- I'm always right
So I currently live in Cornwall (southern tip of the UK) but began looking at scotland due to having friends there and the housing market being less f*cked. I'm a Production Engineer and applied for jobs that my skillset could be applied to but oh boy was I not prepared for the application questions from some huge companies. What level of education do your parents have? Are/were your parents ever divorced? Have you or any close family members been homeless? Are you planning to start a family within the next 2 years? Did you attend private or community educations? There were several others that focused essentially on if you have the right “Nobby Background”. It has no relevancy as to how I'd operate in the workplace. The final kicker was instead of being the normal assh*les and asking how much I'm currently payed, they requested 3 photos of my last…
Culinary degree, 10 years experience. Got my rejection letter today on Indeed. Guess they're not short staffed any more. But the ad is still up asking for resumes.
