Alright so here is the situation. I work in logistics in a warehouse of a big name company. This company has a dress code that doesn't allow us to wear shorts, even with leggings or spandex underneath to still cover the legs. Safety is the issue on why. I like to wear shorts all of the time. I have a co-worker who is trans and wears a dress to work everyday. She also wears leggings underneath. I have no problem with anyone wearing what they want. I also want to wear what I want. I have asked my boss and HR about me wanting wearing shorts multiple times to no avail. They say no everytime, its unsafe. Yet, my co-worker comes in day after day in a dress… If I go into work in shorts, or even a dress and get in trouble, do I have any sort of ammo…
The meaning of minimum wage…
Minimum wage shouldn't be defined as: “The least amount of money an employer is required to pay his employee to do a certain job. Minimum wage should mean: “The minimum wage required for said individual to participate in society. Enough to cover rent in district up to an hour away from place of work, bills, food, gas/public transportation and perhaps even a tiny allowance. Why would anyone work if they can't cover bills to begin with…
My boss tells me ‘no problem, hope you feel better’ but I still feel bad, yet I feel I need the time off for my mental health. What would you do in a time like this.?
it's the “home is ONLY for sleeping” for me
So I work for Publix which is a Florida based grocery store. They cut EVERYONES hours. People who were getting full time are getting 17-20 hours a week. People who were getting 20-25 are now getting like 5 or 11 hours for example. I got 12 hours this week! Today I got a shift from 7-10am. I was pissed. Mainly because it felt like a slap in the face. Up at 6am to be there at 7 to leave at 10? When I told my coworker a few days ago about it she went “I’d just call out. That’s ridiculous.” So I did. It’s supposed to be a no fault policy. But they asked me why when I called to say I wasn’t going to be in. I said my parents were across the country (which is true) and my grandma had a flooding in her house last night and…
How to respond to this email?
My IT department had a team lunch and learn event. I rarely attend these things and most are corporate brainwashing horse-shit. The management “strongly” encouraged for their team to attend but wasn’t mandatory. How should I respond to this email? Ignore? Or respond by killing them with kindness and apologizing?
Here on this sub and in real life I've heard countless stories of you can't have water at your desk, your desk must look a certain way you can't take more than 5 minutes to take a shit etc. One guy I know, before quitting was told that he was never allowed to speak out of turn at this old job mind you he was working with a team half of whom he was also driving to work. All this is kindergarten level micromanagement is counterproductive and the excuses are always the same, you doing x cost me time and money so we must dock you. I'm sorry but if you are so afraid of losing money cause sometimes an employee has to have a bathroom break longer than 5 minutes or needs to drink water at their desk or is 2 minutes late from a lunch break something is…
