Taking an ethics class The question is: Is it ok to embellish on a resume to get a job? My response essentially is Yes its the employers job to make sure your qualified for the job, not yours. If an employer hires an underqualified candidate that's the employers problem not the employees. Fact is most important thing is taking care of your family, providing them with a roof over their head and if you have to embelish a little bit to do that, then so be it. Professor told me that's unethical cause you aren't being truthful to my employer. To which I said “My ethical responsibility to provide for my family, not my employer” Not quite like that, but pretty straight forward.

This is what my various bosses and managers have been telling us for the 11 years I've worked for my company. It's become a running joke with my coworkers because they've been telling us that new lockers were being procured (the old ones are like 50 years old) for so many years it's comical. Today was my last day at that job after 11(!) years there, and the new lockers actually showed the fuck-up today. I laughed so much, it's almost poetic.

Title says it all. Do employers and society-at-large actually give any incentive to go to work other than to just get money. Sure for the tiny, tiny percentage of people who are in their “dream job” there is a lot of incentive because you're doing something you love, but for the rest of us, what is the incentive for getting out of bed in the morning. I swear once AI becomes good enough to replace humans in most jobs, there will be mass unemployment like we haven't seen since the Great Depression. Office work? Gone. Transportation? Gone. Manual labour? Gone. that I am now starting to look for jobs online. It sucks. I feel that my contribution to the department never counted for shit. I love the job, but I hate the way my boss needs constant chitchats to pretend that we’re “communicating”.

This was over 10 years ago and I used to work at a frozen yogurt shop for minimum wage. I was a full time college student at that time and the school was in another town. Whenever I would come home for summer or the holidays, I’d pick up a few shifts here and there. When I had nothing to do over the summer, I would work at this shop regularly. Over time, I learned to do everything for this store and took on the bulk of the responsibilities. As other coworkers quit, I was the only one left who knew how to do everything besides the manager.
