hey in my country if get fired can get immediate unemployment no matter the cause. If quit need to wait 90 days first unless just cause which dont have. ive been staying home for two months now on sick leave with some made up illness, doctor wont write me any more sick notes, now i have no sick leave or vacation days left and want to stay home till they fire me to collect immediate unemployment. wondering if i just stay home and dont work will i get a paycheck with a base salary? isnt it illegal for a company to lower ur base wage? need to know because in case they do are able to and give me a empty paycheck, might be better to quit and wait the mandatory 90 days when quit to collect unemployment, since the unemployment amount reflects on ur prior base salary's amount
I get it, business as usual.. life goes on, but mentally, I feel this really tipped me over the edge. One of my co-workers has been off sick for 4 months with a brain tumour, unfortunately they passed away from it last night. We all received the devastating news at work today.. had my co-workers son who also works with us, pop by in tears… how can they not close the shop for this? It just doesn’t sit right with me whatsoever, not to also mention. This was an exceptional co-worker with years of service under their belt, truly above and beyond… I hate it and truly think it’s disgusting we were expected to carry on business as usual, but a death doesn’t bother the corporate higher ups whatsoever does it?
I finally taking the jump in looking for a new job in a new field of work that I have never done. But why do I feel so guilty? Quick backstory: Been with the same company (retail) for 10 years, yes 10 years. Worked as a fashion associate, to stock room manager, to team lead manager. I have had 3 amazing managers 5 amazing assistant managers and a handful of amazing team leads, and 3 horrible horrible managers (the third I'm currently still working with). Even though my titles are few I have had lots of opportunities to have responsibilities that help me learn what managers do and learn what my bosses bosses expect and want. Even met and developed amazing relationships with those higher ups as well. My coworkers (minus the horrible bosses) are likey family, mostly because we work holidays in retail, but relationships that I value and…

Three days to accept an offer?
Hi all, This sub has recently inspired me to take my experience out into the market and see if I can get a higher paying wage with a different company. Well, good news! It worked. I got a good offer with a 30% increase in my salary, but I am still evaluating different options and still interviewing. This might be a terrible analogy but I don't want to go to the dance with the first boy that asks me out. I want to find the right one. This offer is good but I think I have better options out there, and quite frankly I want to give my current employer an opportunity to respond with a counter offer, or I just want to wait to see how they'll respond out of curiosity. The offering company has given me 3 days to respond. I said, I need more time, and they…
