Getting shouted at by my boss.
Today my boss shouted at me for no apparent reason, and said some hurtful words. It actually hurt me a lot but I still didn't said anything. I apologised for my “mistake” and didn't argue because I am afraid of getting fired and as always bosses are always right, right? What would you have done in this situation?
Scenario You make 50k with 4 hours of actual work a day. Find another job making 100k but now putting in a full 8 hours a day. Was it really a raise? Money and Stress vs Time and Freedom.
Show that W-2 to a younger you Ask if they thought that slavery was through Clap back to yourself, quick, with, ‘if you only knew’ And “examine your ass, it’s ‘bout to hold a shoe” Wage slave is thrown around without care Cost of living and inflation rise into thin air Ask for a raise; management, HR just stare You don’t have a chair, just a hair of stock share That being said, let’s get this pot stirred Yes, I wanted to use that missing c-word To absolutely ensure this message is heard But I’m a decent human when lines are blurred Two weeks of vacation if approved 2 decades before Best not get pregnant, unless it was in the cold war You’re a pawn on the board of debt-ratio score Don’t ask for benefits, a drugstore encore That ceiling that’s glass, let’s get down to brass tacks Shove it…
Great Question to ask interviewers
Are you paying me for a certain amount of time, or are you paying me to complete a certain amount of tasks? If it's time, I will be present for those X hours each day but don't expect an extra minute–unless we want to increase the pay. If it's tasks, I will complete said tasks quickly and efficiently. Don't expect to pile on more–unless we want to increase the pay.
What do you owe your employer?
My tech comm textbook states that employees owe employers competence and diligence, honesty and candor, cofidentiality, and loyalty. This is fair to me up to “loyalty” because that's a two-way street; being loyal to my job may mean something to me, but if I'm let go at the drop of a hat, where's my company's loyalty to me? They hold all the cards and to demand loyalty is an abuse of power.

Should I take another sick day?
I have been employed by my employer for many years. I hardly ever call in sick but the last two days I've been really under the weather so I've stayed home sick. I took a Covid test yesterday just to be sure (same symptims) and it was negative. This morning I woke up feeling a little better, not nearly as congested and my cough isn't as bad. I'm not 100%, not even really 90%. I could probably go into work and be okay but there's a chance I could feel worse and have to go home. I haven't eaten much of anything except a bowl of soup and some snack foods, I've had zero appetite and I'm feeling weak but still feel like I'm getting better. I grew up in a culture where you work even if your sick and if you do call in you go back to work…
It seems like everywhere I work there just HAS to be that one person that cannot mind their own business to save their own lives! I am a rather private person. I.e. I do not get in work gossip, I don’t talk about my marriage (unless it’s just something like what we’re having for dinner.) I don’t talk about my friendships, basically my personal life and relationships stay out of work unless it’s just casual talk ”I’m visiting with my best friend this weekend and we’re painting.” That sort of stuff. You get the idea. I don’t gossip, I keep my life private as possible, but I am not unfriendly. I just try to be nice, have good work ethic, and keep to myself. I will ask for help if I need it. But I know everyone is busy, so it’s usually a last resort. I keep my desk area…
