Judicial Dissolution / Corporate Death Penalty

IMO there should be much more talk about why judicial dissolution or the corporate death penalty is hardly ever used, when it should be. It's exactly the kind of thing that might get corporations to stop screwing us. Why not make it a bigger part of the conversation?

Want me to skip my 15s and take a shorter lunch to meet production numbers? You can fuck right off.

Never overwhelm new hires with unrealistic expectations especially when they have no one else to help or train them. Of course management wonders why people quit which is what I'm about to do.

Founder got harsh feedback from users (forwarded by stupid me), decided to dismiss the whole team of 10 people to have time to “think”

TL;DR: I forwarded to the founder some harsh criticism from the users on the UX of the app that he designed .I also gently suggested him to be more involved in user interviews in the future. Two days later, he “temporarily” dismissed the whole team of 10+ people to have time to “think” and not be distracted. What's temporarily dismissing anyway? – – – Over last weekend I approached the founder of the startup I’m working at about a few issues raised by the users of our app. I also convinced him that he gotta be on the user interview calls with me sometimes because our company is still in an early stage (the team has ~10 people). My perspective is that as a founder he gotta be close to his customers to make the right decisions. He can't just rely on the only external person on the team (aka…

I am a bus driver in Ontario working for less than minimum wage and trying to get paid.

I am a school bus driver. I drive to 3 different schools. I drive the handicap accessible bus and have 2 kiddos that use the lift. Every child on my bus is special needs. I absolutely love these kids and I love my job. I take great pride in providing stellar care for the kids while on my bus and do whatever I can to make their start/end of day as positive as possible. Since starting driving again this school year I have been under paid. I make $50 a day for at first driving an average of 4 hours a day (about $12/hr when the min wage was $14) and now it averages 5 hours a day which is about 10 an hour when the min wage is 15. I told my boss that unless I get back pay and a reasonable rate going forward I am not driving.…

Trade Unions

Hi there, to start, I wanted to make clear that I'm a student, European and young enough to make mistakes, so if I say something wrong, don't be too rough with me please. One of the assignatures I have is politics. Today, we started to talk about trade unions in my country, and I found very interesting data I would like to share and compare to data I find in the US. The country I refer to is Germany, and the data I'll be using is from 2020 To start, 18.4% of all workers in germany are members of a Union, which is roughly 7.7 million from 41.74 million. In the US, 10.8% of all workers are members of a Union, circa 14.3 million from 132.41 million. In Germany from 2000 the percentage of workers in the unions is getting lower from 24% to an actual 18%. In the US,…

So I Couldn’t Dance

I auditioned for a dance reality show once – had to get in line extremely early in Winter, around 3am. I had just moved to the Big Apple and was ready to make it big. I’m a good dancer, not a prodigy anything, but I did work professionally in the biz for several years. I auditioned that afternoon and made it past the first round, and they told me to back the following day around 8am. When I got there, I found out I wasn’t on until midnight. We filled out paperwork and had to hang around, but they gave us a lunch break where we could leave the building. Meanwhile, I saw the catered lunch come in for the staff, but it wasn’t for the lowly dancers. Time crawled by and I finally got my moment onstage in front of the famous judges. Not surprisingly, it wasn’t my best…

I just started working and I already hate it

Hey, long time lurker here. I'm not asking for sympathy, I just feel like venting. I'm young and I just started my first job at a call center. They paid minimum wage for the small town I live in ($10 per hour). Anyway, normally I keep my cool and am very patient with customers over the phone but today a male Karen kept screaming me, demanding to talk to a supervisor. I was annoyed because it was last call of the day; was 1 minute away from the end of my shift and the guy was screaming my ear off to get the supervisor right now. I got fed up and just hung up on him and left work right as the shift ended. I'm sure I'm going to get fired for it because I have the feeling he called back after I hung up but in the moment I…
