I'm in mobile, so please forgive spelling and grammar errors. A few years before Covid started, my state passed a sick leave bill, requiring every employer to give their employees sick leave. For every 40 hours worked, employees received 1 hour of sick leave. I had accrued 4-5 days of sick leave by the time I got the flu in late 2019. I was too sick to work, so I decided to call in and use my sick leave for the first time. I had been sick a few times, but I worked in an industry that's not a 9-5 job. It's basically commission based service industry job and we work when our clients need us. When I was sick before, there wasn't any work due to the time of year, so sick leave didn't apply. I ended up getting the flu during a time when I had 3 jobs…
i dont want to work
I dont want to spend my life at jobs i want to live free I never wanted a job i was forced into it Ppl call me lazy whenever i say this thryre so brainwashed.since i was 11yrs i knew this system is wrong.i wasnt born to be a robot i want freedom đ
I went to Wendyâs tonight bc I needed cheap food, and they were super short-staffed, so I was extra patient and polite because I know itâs not the workersâ faults. When he rings me up, he asks me how my night is going. I said, âItâs all right. Iâm guessing yours isnât going that well.â (There was only one other person there). He then proceeds to say âItâs not too bad.â Iâm thinking, ah, maybe itâs been a pretty light day. Then he says, âWell except I twisted my ankle, and Iâve been here all day standing on it.â This was around 9:30 PM. I felt so bad for him, but Iâm not the least bit surprised. I wanted to hug him or give him a chair or at least do something. I donât care how much this man is getting paidâitâs not enough for that. Workers shouldnât be forced…
My old company just made an international womenâs day post about how much they value the women at the company. Where was that energy when I told you a VP sexually assaulted me? Do you âvalueâ women by offering them a severance in exchange for keeping quiet about what happened? Iâm furious that they get to put on such a bullshit facade and I canât do anything about it. Fuck that company
I am an accomplished student who has spent their entire life working for better grades and recognition in academia. I worked hard. I got into the best programs, the most challenging schools. I gained skills while also being funneled into the corporate sphere. My college has been sending me interview preparation materials so I can apply to companies I'd never want to work for. “Entrepreneur” is a word that is absent from my institution's dictionary. I don't really need to wonder why. Fuck it. I'm done. I don't want to graduate into an office job. I deserve more than to intern somewhere, get treated like trash, and have little to show for it. I'm tired of letting people exploit my skills for their own personal gain, and I will take no further part in this charade. I'm tired of specialization. Is there something horribly wrong with having a diverse skillset?…
We expect you to give 100%
This is such a stupid thing which for some reason every workplace puts in. It completely annoys me as it is similar to the american “how are you” where you answer “I'm good”. A completely redundant thing to say. Everyone will say “Of course I'm giving 100%” knowing full well they dont. I even had one stupid interviewer tell me she gave 110% today. I was like “Well that is not possible. 100% is the maximum. The only logical conclusion is that you only give 90% the other days” I didnt get the job obviously. Employers don't seem to understand how percentages work. 100% is maximum, if someone is giving you 100% it means they literally could not be able to squeeze out more. It is the barrier to breaking any moment. Everyone knows that nobody gives 100%, why do people always say shit like this. Just wanted to rant.
