A buddy who works at a sandwich food chain told me about this. From my understanding, every hourly wage employee took a pay cut as the restaurant started asking for tips at checkout. What’s the solution here? I can’t help but feel like part of the problem as I usually tip everywhere I go that offers. But I didn’t assume that I was supplementing their actual wage. Now I feel like I shouldn’t tip so often, but that only hurts the worker. Was I the only naïve one who assumed tipping was only supplementing servers, and not every other food worker.

Worked as a minimum wage team member for four years, sick of being sold false promises and straight lies by management. Applied for a store manager job elsewhere out of spite and filled my CV with lies, got a phone interview, every other word was a lie. Fast forward two days and I’ve got an interview with the stores regional manager. The wages are more than double mine, even if I can get the job and blag my way through a few months before they realise I have no clue I’ll consider that a success, wish me luck.

Background: I Started working at a start-up 3 months ago. A coworker and I got into the taboo conversation of salary… I was absolutely shocked to find out that they make $65,000 more than me. We both hold the same position with similar experience in our prior work. This taught me that I was absolutely terrible at negotiating. During my interview they refused to give me a salary range and I fell for the trap.
