It’s amazing what happens when you just quit.

Key administrative position in our team was deemed a needed cut to reduce company overheads. Our team was told it was a temporary decision in anticipation of projected losses because of covid and we were expected to absorb the duties of this position despite our still excessive workload. Company is in record profits just FYi. My career progression plan was put on hold indefinitely and I only found out about this after asking repeatedly get non answers. As my current position was deemed vital for company growth (recruiter). I love my team but it feel like I'm the only one ever speaking up so I out right quit. I voiced my objection with evidence of unreasonable workload and if this happens can they can start having discussions of TOIL, overtime terms, KPI adjustments etc and I shared info about these things with my team. As this wasn't brought up in…

Can you do any overtime this week?

“What about Wednesday? No? Thursday? No? Tonight? Well, if you change your mind, just come in.” I work overnights, filling shelves in a supermarket. The work is heavy and fast paced. The 1st day off each week is spent in bed recovering, the 2nd is spent feeling crappy because of disrupted sleep and the 3rd (when I have a 3rd) is spent dreading going back to work tomorrow. No, I do not want your overtime, I want my body to stop aching.

Yesterday saw several successful strike actions against Starbucks for firing employees in Memphis due to their union efforts. This is what solidarity looks like. Get involved!

Hey what gives? Im confused

My employers have been making a lot of mistakes recently but something that stays consistent it the non taxable expense reimbursements. My roommate explained that its money they return to you if you spent it on the job or client/patient (im a caregiver) but I’m not spending 5-10 hours worth of pay on a patient. So what the heck is up??

2 day handover, now doing budget meetings with the Board

I have 3 Budget Meetings today, after being promoted and then having a 2 day handover. I'm in front of: Head of IT and Digital Services @ 10:00hrs Director of Estates & Quality @ 11:00hrs Director of People @ 14:00hrs This is fucking bullshit. I have to talk them through the last 10 months worth of expense, forecast the rest of the year and then discuss their budget for the next year. After 48 hours.

It’s 4 am an I’m working because my boss threw a tantrum

There’s this huge project we’re working on, it’s been on the roadmap since November, and one of the core tasks depends on the department I’m building, and I’m sayin “I’m building”, because last year my department was non-existent, we had to create the processes, slowly buy the tools and equipment and now we have this huge task in front of us. We’ve delayed the project about three times now, our last deadline was set up to next week, I was in a meeting with other managers and decided that we were able to make the mark if a few (about 9 guys) worked 2 extra hours every day till Friday, not a big deal, we get done with the meeting and head back to work. My boss, the owner of the company, calls a meeting about 5 minutes after this, he asked about the project, we try to explain what’s…

I’m a front line social service provider who’s worked through the pandemic. How do I approach my boss about requesting accommodations for the health problems resulting from stress of being in crisis mode for 2 years?

I love to see folks' stories on here about walking away from the bullshit job that didn't value them. I've thought of myself in a different boat since my job actually feels I'm helping my community (distributing govt funding that helps lower income ppl pay their bills). But my work has gotten harder and harder as my organization loses employees and my stress levels are feeling unmanageable. I've complained to mgmt about the additional responsibilities but have also had an attitude of, I've got to keep going because if I don't do this no one will (usually an irrational thought, but in this case possibly true as they've been unsuccessful at retaining staff or finding applicants). I've finally reached the breaking point where my stress is manifesting in physical illness, anxiety attacks, and sleepless nights. This is probably predicated on the fact that I am being forced to go back…

Looking for people in the UK (especially Scotland)

Hello all, I'm fairly active in here and want to actually start activism to improve workers rights and pay in the UK. Our government is a farce; it does not serve the people. No political party does. There is no representation of the working classes, even from parties that proclaim such. Our country is at a desperate point; regardless of your political leaning or ideology, the simple fact is that many if not most of us are in for a pretty shit couple of years – especially with the rise of fuel costs, impeding levels of inflation, and total lack of government empathy. Does anyone know of any non-partisan/cross party grassroots movements who are specifically aimed at tackling the inequality of wages rates and working conditions? If not, why don't we form one? Individually we are slowly chipping away. But the wall is tall and the people behind it have…
