I work your typical bs 9 to 5 job. I have been stuck in the same position for years. At my last company, I had a great manager but he decided to leave, my company spent EIGHT MONTHS looking for a new boss, and he could NOT have been worse. Basically told me I was starting over from scratch as far as my career goes after working there 2 yrs. I lasted another six months before I said fuck it and left b/c he was so awful. Now, I've been at this current job for two years and just found out I'm getting a new manager again! I hear all the things like “Oh they'll make this dept so much better!” and all that horse shit. Im frantically looking for other jobs now. On to the next wage cage bullshit.
Why would I put in any way effort
I constantly receive requests for quick, immediate deadlines for pointless information from management and supervisors. These same supervisors/managers, rarely ACKNOWLEDGE a request within two weeks, let alone provide feedback or information. For example, I asked for a wage review in august, mind you I’ve won a department award and a national award in the last two years and they are still REQUESTING INFORMATION. I work for a public agency with a regimented pay scale. If you don’t ask for it when you’re hired, there are few opportunities for pay bumps without a promotion. So some deadbeat guy is making way more money than me putting in way less effort and providing fewer results. How do I deactivate caring and trying!
Even workers at the Capitol have had enough and may be looking to form a union. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-02-16/dear-white-staffers-instagram-reveals-congress-work-conditions/100824260
It’s not greed, it’s the system working!
I just saw the post about Starbucks being able to give a huge bonus, the implication being that they are being greedy. It’s important to know that this is how the system is SUPPOSED to work! It’s not greed, it’s fulfilling an obligation. A corporation‘s obligation is to it’s shareholders, and it will do everything to maximize shareholder return. Everything. The only “good” things corporations do are to increase profile, retain people, get free publicity – I.e. things that will increase their market share and therefore increase share price. That is it. That’s how it’s supposed to work. Thats why the only way to make a corporation do the right thing is through legislation. Cap executive compensation. Mandate profit sharing with employees. Raise minimum wage. Improve protections across the board, Or tear it all down and replace with something better. Some form of democratic socialism seems most promising.
The job is alright just not in my element and the ppl I work wit drive me nuts, I been looking at some better suited places. I know “burning bridges” can be bad but it’s just so much less stressful
Anyone feel like looking for work is not only stressful but a full time job itself? Like you have to apply and apply job post after job post, then you get either a couple offers all at once and its overwhelming to pick the best one you could OR you only get one offer and feel you are forced into this one job not knowing how it's going to go, and taking it even if you feel it's a very risky idea. You have to deal with wage haggling! As of late for example the only jobs that have responded so far only want to pay below $15/ hour. I need a job because I am going to be let go as soon as next week, and I cannot afford even a week without work. Dont even get me started on unemployment because in my state, they make it EXTREMELY…
