Looking forward to my boss freaking out on Sunday

So I work at a very well known pizza chain as a driver, and the last few days my manager has been on absolute edge preparing for Superbowl Sunday, since it's the busiest delivery day of the year. Yesterday he started going off on a coworker for taking 5 min away from his prep work to talk to me and use the restroom, shit like “WHEN WERE OUT OF FOOD THIS WEEKEND BECAUSE YOU DIDNT FUCKING PREP ENOUGH, DONT CRY TO ME”. I later asked the coworker why he lets him talk to him like that. He said that by this weekend he would likely be so on edge he'll be throwing pans around the kitchen at people. Is it weird that I am very much looking forward to this behavior? Delivery driver jobs are a dime a dozen in my town and I don't need them as much as…

So anyways I quit a shit job with shit pay for something I enjoy doing for slight better shit pay. Moral here is I still can’t afford to live.

I actually work 3 jobs (all part time) and my last third job I tried a full time job at 40 hours a week and asked for 14$ an hour. Seen a grown man cry over me asking for a living wage because I was coming in an hour before everyone else, and getting off later not only because I was new and struggling but because it was literal extra work. My sport watch was telling me I was getting 15-20k steps a day. I was being paid 12.40 plus a dollar COVID pay. Which is illegal where I live. Meanwhile, I was having breakdowns daily at this place over the work load and not being able to live. I can't afford not to work but I also can't afford to work. I hate that I'm being gaslit by people telling me I don't “want to work” and being burnt…

If a job is worth doing, it’s worth paying a living wage

If a person spends their whole working time at a place, that job needs to be able to support a family and let them build their life, including a home of their own. How is that a controversial opinion?

I was punished for advocating for myself and my fellow employees. So I walked.

My former manager left this small company back in October. Given that I was supposed to take over his management level responsibilities I asked for management level pay. My boss told me he would bring me close to it but I had to prove I could do the job before giving me the full number. Well here we are months later, we've lost another two employees out of six, my role has expanded well beyond what I was told I would be responsible for, and we are struggling to hire on new employees. At first I was offered the original amount I asked for back in Oct, I said that wasn't enough given the current state of the market and the current expectations for my work and responsibility. I was willing to take a hit from my proposed number for other guarantees as far as roles, expectations, and hiring practices.…

If you can quit, DO IT

I worked for a “woke” woman founded nonprofit org that promised better pay, unlimited vacation, insurance at no cost the the employee, and flexible hours. I thought I hit the jackpot. Everyone had kids and they were always welcome at the office and we were always told they came first. We were always encouraged to take time when we needed it, no questions asked. But, I quit last week. Why? Because their motto is “there is no work life balance because we are family”. Because the “culture” they promised me was a front. Because the vast majority of my coworkers were not in a position to quit and lose income. Because I was becoming a scapegoat for their own ineptitude. In the moments I was learning my 2 year old more than likely had Covid (4 classmates tested positive) and needed to be picked up from daycare immediately, my boss…
