I occasionally do work for an IT staffing agency. A few months ago they contacted me about a job as a field technician for a large computer and printer manufacturer. I said sure I'll do it. they get back to me a week or so later and tell me the company filled the position with an internal transfer who moved from another city. ​ Fast forward to January. They call me again saying the job is open, so i say i'll do it. About a week later, they call me back with the same story as before. Why for the love of god do all these jobs want 6 day work weeks Jesusssssss I can’t get one job above 15$ an hour to give me a 5 day work week I physically cannot do it for 6 days go fuck yourself I’ll lose sleep and be deprived and drowsy all day operating forklifts someone is bound to get killed. I wanna have time for myself while also holding down a good paying job I didn’t realize that was so fucking much to ask.

If we don't hit our goal for this quarter, they are going to choose one of us to pie in the face. If we do meet our goal we get to choose a supervisor to pie in the face. I feel this is so unprofessional and very humiliating. The goal this quarter higher then it has ever been before and I feel it's actually unrealistic… It's pretty humiliating and abusive to all involved. I don't find it funny at all.

I just had the worst job “interview of my life” Or I guess I didn't… Showed up at 1:00 which is a time they decided on. Waited inside building for over an hour expecting to be interviewed. Person at front desk keeps saying “just a few more minutes guys” Person at front desk gets a call from interviewer; they're not coming. Tells me to leave and says I will get a phonecall soon. Leave and later decide to withdraw my application as I do not want to work for a company that functions in this way, nor do I want them to have my information. Today was my first day back to work after having a major panic attack 2 weeks ago. I feel great! My doctor has me on new anxiety meds and I started my day with a meeting to catch up with my manager (s) where I set new boundaries. Instead of dialing in and working from 5 AM to 6 PM I've informed them my hours are 7 AM to 4 PM henceforth. I can't help we're shorthanded because all the old people are retiring rather than attempt to wrap their minds around all the system changes and other teammates are jumping ship to move to other departments because they're tired of the catty wars they've had with each other. I'm one person. I get no overtime pay for the effort and the raises don't even cover the increase in insurance. I'm taking back my hours to do things for ME…

Colorado College, a small, and very pretentious liberal arts private college in Colorado Springs, CO, pays administrative assistants barely more than Walmart pays its cashiers. I manage multiple departments and not only is the pay shit, but my job is only for 9 months out of the year. I don’t get paid for summers, that’s right! Recently the new president has started a campaign of “improvement,” forcing mandatory meetings on staff to get their opinion on what the college can “do better.” You must be fucking joking right? How about paying people what they’re actually worth? The turnover rate in these positions is very high because who wants to do this essential, important work for the same wage as a walmart shelf stocker?
