Someone posted yesterday “Karl Marx, the OG antiworker “, I feel like us being called “antiworkers” is confusing because it’s not anti “worker”… should we just decide to be called antiworkists?

Bosses who say, “Because I said so.”

I work a fully autonomous night shift delivery job. They started having us work Sunday nights but all the places we deliver to are closed on Sundays so there’s really no reason to wait until the evening to start the shift. (It’d be nice to be home Sunday evening to have dinner with my partner which I don’t get to do during the week.) My boss has never had issues with us coming in early to complete our deliveries and I’ve seen other people run their Sunday route earlier in the day so I didn’t think it would be a problem. A coworker who was already at work when I got there told me I should ask my boss before I left for my route because he had done it before and gotten yelled at. So, just to be cautious, I texted my boss to ask if I could run…

Any other disabled people with war stories to tell?

I have epilepsy anxiety, depression, adhd, and autism(what they once would refer to as “Aspergers”) and have had horrible experiences in the job market. I'm thinking of making a YouTube channel.

Health concerns preventing me from going to work and it’s making me feel guilty for no reason.

Idk if this is the right sub for this post so I apologize if it’s wrong. Anyways Exactly what the title says.. why do jobs make us feel so guilt ridden for calling out or missing days for actual legitimate reasons?? I would like to think my boss is understanding, but I still can’t help but feel like they don’t believe me when calling out of work for health concerns. Back story is I have a prior neck injury from my last desk job I was at. After leaving that job I took a break, and I haven’t had any neck problems since then until starting this new job as a receptionist. Not sure what I did but I can barley move from the pain but I went to work anyways with my neck messed up cause I felt bad for calling out previously. My boss knew I was not…

Black FedEx Driver Shot at by Racists Chuds on Unpaid Leave from FedEx

“To me, they have not taken this seriously,” Moore said. “This man is on unpaid leave for something that happened on the job. He should be on paid leave.” [slowclap] “Nice FedEx, nice.”

Mind/Body Segregation in Medicine: Great For Business

Something I have been thinking about lately and talking about with others is about Western Medicine's (as well as other medicine's) emphasis that the body's functioning and the functioning of the mind are completely separate things. I see this as a rigged system that gives advantages to a ruling class who want you to work without any excuses. The culture in which we operate often see these things as separate and treat them as separate. The idea that if you are depressed and burnt out but if your body is not experiencing any symptoms then you are fit to be working. Even by the stories on here you see how pervasive this is. Hell, even if your body is not in good shape you are still expected to put on a smile and deliver wealth to your employers. The truth is, and science informs us of this with healthy confidence,…

Work – Outdated concept making people jaded

I believe in every generation contributing their insights into the betterment of society. Somewhere around the 60s and ever after especially with the internet culture and ideas sped up expenantially and mainstream society has not been able to keep up, hence why there's a mismatch between our understanding and the daily output we do in society. The right to work, Henry Ford style factories etc was cutting edge during it's time, and that generation of people were content with having a job title and sitting behind a desk their whole life. Post WW2 and shit a lot of this made sense and was humane considering the alternatives but we have moved on A LOT . Fact is the entire work system in the advent of high speed internet and with a more highly educated middle class seems antiquated, we do not share the same values as our predecessors did because…

I quit my job today

I was hired to pack orders full time at a place near me that sells men’s cosmetics online. The first week went well, I worked about 37 hours and packed orders the whole time. As the weeks went by, orders dipped due to the holiday season being over, and my hours went with that too. I went from working nearly 40 hours a week to working 8-10 hours total a week. The job was in a warehouse on the property of the owner, which originally I thought was so cool. It was amazing to me that this guy was doing so well to afford to build this place, but the temperature in the warehouse was around 32-35°F every day. Most days I could see my own breath while I worked and I could rarely feel my fingers. Any time I made a mistake, he would email me pretty nicely about…
