Amazon’s misleading employment ads

Ever notice the Amazon employment ads that tout the pay, medical, dental and paid days off? Only to post size 4 white font that says “for full time employees”? Why not say it in big black bold letters?

Politely asking for a rise. Don’t how to do it

Hello to everybody, I work for a big company (around 1000 people on the site, over 5000 globaly) in the shipping department. I started 6 months ago, during this time I took the job of 3 people that exited in the meanwhile, 2 of them for retirement and as far as I know the company policy is to not hire new people to keep costs low. Yesterday my 2 managers told me that I am doing a great job, and after a lot of compliments they told me that want to keep me with a long term contract without telling anything about the terms, so I guess paycheck will be the same. I was happy about the news and didn't had the courage to ask about the terms of the new contract. ( I also didn't expect this news rightnow since my contract was due next month, so I wasn't…

Job is trying a cheap cop out to pay me less.

So I was due for a raise on Dec 7th 2021. The raise discussed was a 2 dollar one from 13 to 15 per hour. On Dec 7th they said my raise was post poned because the date for it is “too close to the time of yearly evals” and that I'd have to wait for my eval. And that would happen in January. A week before Christmas they tell us that the insurance changed and now we have to pay 40% of the rate. They cover 60% they gave us a .80 raise to incentivice people working overtime to fully cover their 40%. We used to get health insurance for free unless it was a family plan. They end of January comes with many excuses as to why I haven't had an eval. Promising me im on the top of the list. I wasn't. I didn't get my eval…

Why do you we want to work for you!?! The question should be why we should work for you and how you can prove your worth as an employer.

People are realizing this is not a way to live. We should not be living to work. We are fighting and getting the upper hand if we continue. The great resignation has given a message and we need to make it clear it isn’t because of the high unemployment. People resigned after the big 600 stopped. We are tired of the treatment. We need to make it clear that our life is not about work and have it only a small portion of our life. My manager always says we need to go get along because we see each other more than our real family and that is the sad truth that needs to end. We need to have the power in interviews and establish rules if they want us to work for them. Yes we need the pay but they need us as well. My rules is reasonable uninterrupted…

My only regret…

I was a good employee for a fruit named company that you can guess by now. I spent 8 years of my life faking empathy to complete rubes. Talked to people that sent thousands of dollars to scammers and the like. Was fired after being unprofessional with a customer that was completely out of line. My only regret is not stashing some of that contact info so I could cash in a scam or two. We are nothing to these companies, will never be loyal to a job again .

Work is offering fleece blankets as employees appreciation

I work in the largest hospital in my area. Received an email recently that next week we can drop by a conference room to revive a branded blanket as a token of appreciation for our hard work. This is one week after our mangers told us that retention bonuses, pay raises, and that no yearly pay increases were available. Gee thanks.

Put on a PIP two days after initially getting performance feedback.

Got put on a performance improvement plan on the 9th, with the first time getting any sort of negative feedback about my work on 2/7. I also gave them notice that I have a major medical issue that landed me in the ER over the weekend on 2/7 as well. I’m also going on vacation all next week, which is included in the 30 days I have before the end of the PIP. I know this is prob the way they’re covering their ass before they fire me, and I’m looking for a new job, but ugh. I’ve only been here since September, was never really trained, and have assumed I’ve been doing well up until this. And this is the best pay and benefits I’ve ever had, and I’m bummed about the whole thing.
