In One Breath They Say, “We’re Not Cutting Your Hours”, and the next it’s, “You Are Cut From 8hrs To 4, Maybe 5hrs.”

Yet they wonder why morale is low, and why people keep quitting after 1 or 2 months. We're not even human to these companies, just disposable drones to use up, burn out, and toss aside when it suits them.

Home Depot trying to force people back in office for no reason

I don't know why anyone puts up with middle managers or corporate bullshit. Maybe it's fear. But home depot is now trying to slowly force everyone to come back to office for corporate on a hybrid schedule. Why is this bad? Some people live outside of Atlanta in the suburbs, resulting in a 1.5 hour commute to office, and 1.5 hours back. If accident happens, double that time. Why would anyone want to lose 12+ hours a week and risk their lives on dangerous Atlanta highways so their manager making 200k a year can see them type on a laptop? WTF is this medieval crap? The point is this: give everyone a choice. Some people love going into office. Others simply can't. Housing is surging and companies are way too cheap to pay higher salaries for city living

Rant: Can we agree that it’s BS that employers pay employees less cus they are ‘young and don’t need the money’?

I can’t count how many times I’ve seen a post for job advertisement where it says something like 15-17 year old starts at $10 an hour, and then 18 and up starts at $12. I can hear it now. People saying well they young employees don’t have bills to pay they don’t need the ‘Extra’ money. Ok so by that logic everyone with a paid off house gets paid less because they don’t need the money do they? It makes me so pissed because you know if we flipped it around and said ‘Hey boomer your expenses are less then a millennial so we will pay you less.’ Everyone would be pissed. But do it to a kid? That’s ok. I’m sorry I thought pay was based off skill and not that persons need for money. Employers keep trying to tell us that’s why they don’t pay more. I call…

If you HAVE to work, work for people, not your paycheck

I'm old, by reddit standards. I've had many jobs. Some good, some bad. But I have what I think is an interesting story to share. One of my jobs was as a customer service rep for a large 3 letter phone company with an & in its name. Inbound calls only. First story: we had a corporate meeting with a dude who was there to “help us explain” to customers why they were raising activation fee for a new phone (for existing customers) from $25 to $35. He gave a 45 minute presentation on the new iPhone that was coming out and why people were going to be buying lots of them. At the end, he asked if anyone had any questions. I had a question. “The new phone seems cool. But why are we charging people more to 'activate' it?” “Because we can, quite frankly. It's a very popular…

Today I quit my job and stopped whole company production for at least a week

I worked as a welder and ONLY CNC programer/operator at whole company. From start it was a great job, really good wage, great working environment and all. But after 2 years the company was sold and the new owner come to make a mess. First he started to make easy things diffucult. Like, it takes about 4-7 hours to make one our product, and a new owner wanted it to be done differently, but to make it different it took us about 2 hours longer than a normal way. He was pissed at us because it took us longer to do, so he cut our wages by half, a fucking half. Because we '' didn't do the work on time”. After that, he stopped buying us basic stuff like welding gloves and so on … When some machine broke, he refused to call an repair man to fix it, so…

How the hell do people keep working non-highly-paid jobs for years on end???

I can't imagine doing that for years on end. If I had a highly-paid job, sure I'd work it for a long time since I need money to enjoy life, but if I had to work a job that'd only allow me to live paycheck to paycheck, I don't think I wouldn't off myself Most people are wageslaves and I refuse to be one. How do you guys feel about this? I feel like unless I'm getting paid GOOD, I don't have a reason to work and make my boss 10x richer for every cent I make
