…Or is it the type of work, your current job that's wearing you out, not the 40 hour fulltime-ness?
SB 569 took effect on January 1, 2022, making it an act of discrimination, to refuse an applicant because they lack a license to drive, unless driving is an essential function of the position. Essential function is defined as something done at least once a day. Despite this, a local city government rescinded a job offer I had already accepted, because I had no license. The job was 100% in an office, with driving not listed as one of the duties. During the time it took them to rescind my already accepted offer, I had to turn down a different position with the state of Oregon. My offer was rescinded 4 days after the law took effect, and the agency has already admitted it. Actually, they can't deny it, because everything is recorded through email. I'm now facing homelessness with a 10 year old non verbal autistic child. BOLI wants…
“Labor shortage”
A reminder to you that there is no “labor shortage”. There is a “worker that puts up with bullshit” shortage, and every single one of us is a proud contributor to that result. Never doubt your strength, never give up, and fight for your peace of mind. When you think no one else is listening, I am, and I fight alongside you every step of the way
I found out that I get paid less than the male foreign hires (I’m a female foreign hire), and my request for a raise was denied bc “it’s not in the budget.” But it’s in the budget for my male coworkers who have less education, certifications and experience than me. Yeah, fuck that. I’m out.
Dear employers: I can’t believe I even have to say this, but there is a reason your workers are quitting.Raise wages. Increase benefits. Improve working conditions. ⁰See what happens.— Robert Reich (@RBReich) February 18, 2022
Pusha T is down with the movement!
Employers want to be treated as authority figures, but they don't want to earn that authority by taking responsibility for their employees' financial quality of life. If you want me to trust and respect you, you need to show me that you're not just in it for whatever you can get out of it. And if you do display that attitude, expect that I will, too. And no one should be so emotionally fragile and insecure that they need to pay people to kiss their ass. If you need that, get into therapy. I'm Gen X, and am very encouraged by the resistance to being exploited that I'm seeing among Millennials and Zoomers. Don't settle. Don't be cowed into submission. Never sell out.
