My job is trying to force me in on my off day

It’s sleeting and snowing where I’m at and today is my off day. The weather doesn’t bother me and I’d go in if it was my scheduled day but my boss is trying to force me in. Yesterday I spoke to him about working in the freezer area( I’m a grocery order selector) and I’m fine with that but he told me to bring my warm clothes and I said ok but I am off tomorrow and he said ok just make sure Thursday you bring your freezer clothes and I said sure. Now this am I’m getting calls and text saying I’m being forced in. I have not responded and I don’t think I am. I don’t understand why he wouldn’t say I’m being forced in yesterday when we had a 15min convo about the freezer. I am very pissed that I’m being painted as lazy and inconsiderate of…

From the perspective of a member of Gen Z

I am a 17 year old female, born in 2004, which means that I fall into Generation Z. I’m a senior in high school in the US and have lurked on this subreddit for the past few months. I just wanted to make a post highlighting my perspective as someone who will soon be going into college and eventually the work force. Most of the posts I see on here scare and anger me. They make me want to help improve the workforce, to help do something useful with my life and future career. I’m planning to go into video game design, hopefully become self employed as an indie game developer, but with the economy in its state I fear that this dream could end up never becoming reality. Most of the other people within my generation I’ve spoken to about this topic are either completely lost, want to seek…

I don’t know what to do anymore.

Sorry for such a long post, I just need to scream this into the void before I explode. I have been working consistently since I was 14 years old. When I was 14 I worked FULL TIME during the summer. More than full time actually, I was working 8 hour days Monday through Saturday with only Sundays off. I worked in the corn fields as a pollinator for an agriculture company that has a monopoly on most crop seeds (I'm sure you can guess but I don't want to be sued.) and it was basically child labor. We got paid horrible for what we did. It was hard labor outside in the crippling Midwest heat and humidity. Often times they would work us past safe heat indexes and they would have teenagers collapse in the field. We wouldn't be allowed to go home early for extreme heat unless several people…

I worked my butt off for nothing

I work as a software developer. This past year, because of Covid, the work that was scheduled for my project was canceled. My manager offered me the opportunity to go and assist another project that was not going to meet its project deadline. I gladly accepted as it would be a great opportunity for learning. During my time on this project (Dec 2020 – Sept 2021) I learned an entire new tech stack, helped us meet our project deadline, and even assisted on another contract, getting the work done months before the deadline. With the work done, I moved back to my original team, to assist with the work that was now going forward. All of this lead up to today where I found up what kind of raise/bonus I would be getting for the work I had done. My raise was 20$ more than last years. My bonus was…

Spoke to two colleagues about leaving and having interviews now Manager came to give me “advice”

Hello everyone, I have been employed at my current company since last October where I asked a recruiter for $75k and their client offered me $50k. I told the client about the recruiters dishonesty and they bumped me to $60k. I realized now that I’m not happy at all because it’s more work than I thought (I’m a receptionist for a financial firm). I told two colleagues I was leaving for more pay and to have the option of WFH. Well, today my manager came to me and told me “just an advice, stop telling people about your interviews and that you’re unhappy”. Well, it’s not my problem people heard me chat since I sit at the front desk miserable with no privacy. On top of that, I got my performance review today saying I’ve been having “hiccups lately”. I wonder why did I even bother getting two degrees here…

Last year, I was accused of sexual harassment because my waist area showed while I was reaching above my head

So for background. Alot of people at my job, the manager at the time included, have a massive problem with me because I'm middle eastern. They're always looking to start shit with me. Last spring, I was reaching up above my head so my shirt had lifted a bit. Enough to expose about 2 inches of my belly, back, and waist. It was less than a minute each time. I thought nothing of it. Until 2 days later when I was called to the office with several reports of people feeling as though that was me sexually harassing them. I literally almost lost my job abd was left with no way to pay my bills because I had to reach above my head to un stack 8ft tall pallets while being only 5'7. I had honestly forgotten about it until yesterday, when I was in the computer room working. 7…

An excerpt of my essay i just got an A on because of you guys

Originally was a screenshot but magic_eye_bot sucks and thought I repost. In the Covid-19 pandemic we saw incredible growth for all rich people. 500 people became billionaires in 2020 according to Forbes. At a peak in covid cases, December through January 2021 Gamestop stock price increased roughly 1800%. Even currency worth went to Mars and beyond, Bitcoin prices went from roughly 5,000 USD to more than 40,000 dollars through 2020. Workers rights have once again become a prevalent issue, in October 2021, just after a spike in covid cases, r/antiwork (A leading workers rights online forum) went from 500,000 users to 1.7 Million in February 2022. This may seem an insignificant number considering the time frame, but trends project that in February 2022 that r/antiwork would only be 1 million.  Thanks again for the data and subsequently the grade!
