So I'm in Canada Ontario, but I'm wondering why all of North America hasn't moved to less working hours and less days by now. What's holding the U.S. and Mexico back? In Canada it's because we technically follow the US literally. We're willing to abolish day light savings time but won't make the move unless the US does. (Not looking forward to losing sleep this year). But seriously what's holding us back from getting a living wage at 4 days 30 hours (NOT 40!!!) I know the answer is most likely. “Capitalism” or “baby boomers raised the way they are” But reality is there are millennials who also believe there is nothing to do in life except work. I'm sick and tired of holding out for a miracle and convincing myself it's OK to want to play video games, my guitar and have other hobbies that really aren't feasible because…

So i work as a part time worker at a hardware chain store, (lets call it “blows”) and I just opened up my email to find that we are getting another covid releif check in a couple weeks. That's great because I kind of thought that blows forgot that covid exists, but I guess not, sweet right? Then I take a look at the bonus, part time hourly employees get about a hundred dollers less than my average paycheck, not too shabby, it'll certainly help. Then I see that assisant store managers (of which there's like 3 per store) each get 15x the amount of my bonus. Wtf???? I dont do 15x less work than them, I dont put my life on the line 15x less than them, I dont get 15x less sick days if I do get covid. Not to mention the ASMs are salaried, so they're already…

I work in a factory, pretty much I've doing all the work around and he has let go people putting all the pressure on me, today I told him that I'm taking two weeks off he owns me, and he freak out telling me that we have a lot of work and I shouldn't leave him alone. At the end he accepted the reality that I'm off for two weeks… Imagine his reaction when I come back and give my two week advice that I'm quitting because I won't continue with all the pressure without a salary increment. This gonna be epic

I recently joined a union and I was wondering what are some things I can ask of them to get the most out of my job like benefits and pay rises things like that (I am also based in UK) thank you :)))
