How do you manage the anxiety related to the working and living conditions? I am fortunate that I (22) live with my fiancé (21) who has a well-paying job and that I make a decent amount while studying, but I get so anxious thinking that when our lease is up for renewal at the end of the year they might hike it up hundreds when we are just somewhat living comfortably as is. I am very picky with the types of jobs I seek out but I am nervous that when I graduate that these jobs that brag about paying a “high wage of $15” will be unlivable and that living more than paycheck to paycheck will be an unattainable dream. It’s hard when you are just one person who can only do so much. How do you manage this anxiety? Based on historical patterns is the rent ever going…
We had our best year ever in 2021, adding over 3 mil. a year in annual revenue. The board now expects that to double this year. Which is totally unrealistic. What happens when our company owns all the money? What then? So fucking stupid and broken America is. Capitalism is a disease.
Forced to do overnight
I work at a hotel and am currently being forced to work overnight 2 days out of the week while doing 3 day time shifts the rest of the week. When I started the job, I told them I couldn’t do overnight and they told me I wouldn’t have to. Despite this, over the past 1.5 years I’ve covered overnights here and there to be a team player (dumb of me). Now, I’m told I will have to do it every other week and if I don’t show up it will be considered a call out. I said I won’t do it, so now they’re threatening to put me to part time and won’t even guarantee me 24 hours per week. I want to quit really badly but financially I don’t think I can. Working split shift (overnight/then day time) messes with my head and I feel like a zombie.…
This just happened and I’m in shock. I’ve been put in such a bad place. I got a new job earlier this year with a small business. I learned the software and honestly, was good at my job. I hated it, but I was good at it. I mainly hated it because everyone had been working for this company for years (or going as children) and knew each other and the boss on a personal level. I was definitely treated as an outsider. My coworker quit recently so I asked my boss for a meeting to discuss becoming a lead position and get a raise. They said we can meet about it. Today was the meeting. I was sat down and told I was being let go. That I did nothing wrong but just didn’t seem to be the right fit for the company. They walked me out in front…
Does your workplace have cameras?
I overhead a conversation about cameras going up around the shop. I work in a wood work shop. I am not thrilled with the possibility. I feel like my company wants to do everything to improve productivity other than treating the employees better.
For reference I worked about 3-4 shifts before I quit cuz it was clashing with my school schedule They do payment by cheque and I have not received any of those payments I wasn’t able to access the payroll system or anything so I don’t have that but I know how much they owe me I went to pick up my cheque when my manager instructed me and they told me they didn’t receive the cheques yet and that they’ll receive it on Monday I don’t get paid to drive 40 minutes and skip my class to go there , so I never that was January 14,2022 as of February 12,2022 I messaged my manager and HR telling them I haven’t received anything and I will be filing a complaint if I don’t receive a cheque – no response I don’t know what to do I need my money
