Hello, sorry if this comes off as attacking, it just freaks me out and i wanted to know what your take on this is. By raising minimum wage you're killing and preventing small businesses from opening. This means less “little people” being able to branch out. One of the big draws of America is the ease at which businesses can get started, which is why a lot of immigrants are able to start a small business here. By raising minimum wage, people won't be able to branch out as they don't have the finances to begin. Since they don't have the money to start, the job market becomes dominated by the big corporations, big companies, and established companies that can afford to bear these costs. Because less business's open there will be less jobs to go around, leading to more poverty. One thing these larger companies do when faced with…
Is my work violating the ADA??
Hi. So I work at a university research office and I am immunosuppressed. I have an accomodation to work from home since Summer 2021. I've been using my personal laptop since the beginning of the pandemic to work. I was given a laptop which did not have enough ram (4 gigs total) for me to do my job as a data analyst on. I tried to work on it and could not. I have asked my boss to buy a computer for me for almost 2 years since the pandemic began. I have a paper trail of emails. I even bought Google drive space to backup my files but it didn't backup properly. I was given no guidelines to follow on how to back up this stuff/keep stuff safe. My boss is trying to get me to go physically back to work to use a computer until she can buy…
something people need to realize.
There's something alot of people seem to not understand in life when making arguments about money, work and life. See as much as it would be nice and great for minimum wage to be raised to let's say $15 an hour like alot of people are screaming about but that wouldn't fix your issue. Everyone seems to ignore or forget the follow up that would happen with that. The minimum is raised and then cost of living rises again. The real solution here is to lower the cost of living or find a way to raise the minimum and prevent them from raising the cost but how would we do that? What's the magical thing that could force them to make the two go hand in hand? I know 90% of people would refuse to stop buying alot of things to send a message as well as refusing to make…
The Theory of everything. Solved.
See resume.
Let's fully stop double filing out applications with all the same info that you provide in your resume. It's a redundant double the effort, absolutely time wasting formality for both the employee to produce and the employer to sort through. From now on all of us should write in “see resume” under any field on the app where you have already provided the info in your resume. Any employer that has a problem burying this useless practice is a company you're not going to want to work for any way. If enough people do this we can change this standard very quickly.
Reasons for not wanting a union
I read a lot on here about failed attempts to unionise in the US (mainly due to the aggressive tactics of management), but also that when given the chance often a portion of a workforce will vote against unionising – is there a reason for this? I live in the UK and (to me) Unions have always seemed a positive idea.
Recommended to get help here from AITA. Work for a very small start up (a handful of employees) who seem to be suffering a business down-turn which is affecting cash flow. Since September I am not being paid on time (sometimes my salary is six weeks late). My employer gives no notice that I’ll be paid late and won’t keep me up to date in writing each week when money is owed, despite asking in a grievance. I decided to resign with contractual three month notice period. I’m nearly two months into the notice period and still facing late pay (£1500 owed since October has only just been paid). Meanwhile I’ve secured new employment that will give me the security I need but who need me to start at the end of the month. During my notice period, I’ve found out that my employer for the last year has been…
